Four Hutaree members released from jail (Update to earlier gun forum threads)
"Three of nine members of a Midwest militia accused of conspiring to overthrow the government were released from jail Tuesday," reports Ed White of the Associated Press.

And now today, a fourth member, Kristopher T. Sickles of Ohio has been released.

--snip--

Does freeing of Hutaree on bond tell us anything about government's case?

It does make one wonder how truthful the U.S. Attorney's office was being when they fought any release earlier, saying "'no set of conditions or combinations' could ensure the safety of the public," because that is clearly not the case here.

1. let me get this straight. They release 4 bozos who are planning, seriously
planning a trap to kill police, yet, a bunch of black, destitute out of work folks in Miami who simply wanted a pair of shoes and a hot meal.

Yeah, modern justice at work.

4. Maybe you should complain
to the black, female judge that ordered their release.

Just a suggestion.

a whole lot of info on that. If you look at the info posted in the other threads it seems that the .gov's case is in "serious" trouble.

13. You are one of the few
who apparently bothered to read the earlier threads and develop an informed opinion.

The thread that got me was this one:

I really gotta wonder.

8. If the government had the proper evidence...
the subjects of the conversation would still be in jail.

Methinks they are trying to play Chicken Little..... :tinfoilhat: :hide:

Not that they've ever done that before..... :spray:

9. Exactly.
This entire issue is just one more example of federal law-enforcement grandstanding. Fortunately it didn't develop into another MOVE, Waco or Ruby Ridge fiasco with a lot of unnecessary waste and killing.

At most they might be able to hang some technical firearm violation on one or two of the yokels to justify their commando raid, but all melodrama is beginning to fade. As expected.

12. Yokels of this type are for the most part totally harmless.
They dress up in camo fatigues and play guns in the woods like little boys, the main difference being they have real guns and they shoot real bullets. There are hundreds of similar groups scattered across the rural U.S. Fortunately they are sufficiently knowledgeable about and proficient with guns as to accidentally harm no one. If left alone we would never have heard a thing about them.

The most significant thing these groups ever do is serve as occasional subjects by which such agencies as the BATF manage to justify their existence by breaking onto the six o'clock news with a dramatic raid on a "dangerous terrorist gang." But in reality the really dangerous terrorists, such as the nineteen shahids who attacked the World Trade Center, Ramseh Yousef who bombed the World Trace Center, Timothy McVeigh who bombed the Murrah Building, and Faisal Shahzad who nearly killed dozens in Times Square, invariably remain inconspicuous until after the fact. They don't go running around in the woods playing soldier and attracting attention.

After this bullshit "Hutaree" event is concluded the only newsworthy circumstance that remains will be that which we will never hear a word about -- the cost to the taxpayers.

19. It's the part of them that is ready for all-out warfare that worries me.
Guys like this have little concept of what is real and what isn't.

22. So, if this group is sooooooo dangerous...
where's the evidence? Surely the government can provide proof that they should stay locked up, right?

Or... maybe not.

Oops.

At least this time the gov didn't firebomb kids.

Incremental improvement, I suppose.

Even when it benefits people whose opinions I don't care for. There are too many judges in this country who have forgotten that their job is to act as a check on the executive, not a rubber stamp for it.
