Any word on when McDonald decision will be issued?
I figured it was going to be in June and thought there would be some news coming out about it once date gets posted but seems to be no news.

1. Scotus...

Tend to release opinions and orders, on Mondays with an exceptions being when holidays fall on Mondays...

And according to the schedule, the last Monday that they will do it on is the last Monday in June..

http://www.scotusblog.com/

This will most likely be the day, they always save the "most controversial" decisions for the last days. I wish they would hurry up, Mayor Daley has already pulled a rifle and threatened to shoot a reporter for asking him a question. He and the anti's are starting to crack, under the strain.

5. No misrepresentation
Daley also made reference to "putting a round up your, you know" so evidently, he threatened to do both.

3. The last week of June ...
Edited on Tue May-25-10 06:11 PM by DonP
... is the date most of the Law Blogs are guessing.

Although they are anonymous there are some SCOTUS clerks that post there once in a while so I'm guessing they are probably right about the date.

Just like Heller, this is going to rile a lot of folks up and they tend to let the more controversial decisions out at the last minute.

I'm also guessing that Daley is going to act progressively more insane as the date approaches.

7. Yea, they release all the controversial ones on the last day..
So they can go home, and watch the pundits in the media, alternatively cheer, and crap themselves.....

This is just a theory of mine.

9. Thursday or Monday
It's all guesswork with SCOTUS but there is some speculation that they may issue the Chicago/McDonald ruling this Thursday.

But I'm thinking next Monday is going to be the date.

Just for the record - there is some precedent for holding a ruling over the Summer recess. It has happened, but only a handful of times in 2 centuries.

It might be worth it to see how Daley sputters, threatens, and starts having smoke come out his ears all Summer long, but I'm still betting Monday the 28th. My first thought is he'll stall on any implementation for well over a year, while they "take due diligence in determining the best way to protect the citizens and first responders" ... or some such bilious, lying crap excuse.

DC already has a legal bill for $3.6 million for their first loss on Heller and all their subsequent suits, because they think they can get away with sandbagging the Supremes decision, are running the bills up even more. Daley will do the same thing.

I wonder if Daley, Bloomberg and Fenty having dinner to discuss gun control, all with their armed bodyguards in the background, are subject to the RICO statutes? Three people getting together to subvert the Constitution, hmmm?

6. T-minus seven days.
I fully expect some more grandstanding by various mayors, groups, etc this week, as a proactive attempt at damage control.
