Woman puts bullet hole in attacker's SUV
LA MARQUE — A 56-year-old woman fended off an armed attacker in a Walmart parking lot in La Marque, pulled a pistol and put at least one hole in the assailant's fleeing vehicle, La Marque police said on Thursday.
The woman, whom police declined to name, struggled with a man trying to take her car shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday, Detective Danielle Herman said in a written statement.
The woman, a concealed handgun permit holder, managed to grab a pistol from the car console and pointed it at the man, who fled to a silver or gray SUV driven by an accomplice, Herman said.
The woman fired several shots at the SUV as it sped away, at least one bullet striking the rear of the vehicle, she said.

In Texas leaving the scene of a felony is also a felony.

1. She needs to get her ass to a gun range.
"Several shots" at a nearby SUV and hit it once? Hope the several-minus-one shots didn't hit anyone or anything else.

2. Hmmm.... are you allowed to use deadly force to keep a felon from fleeing?
Might make for a sticky situation if you're arent.

11. well, if it's a felony to leave the scene of a felony...
Then wouldn't shooting at a fleeing felon be shooting at someone committing a "felony in progress"?

interesting paradox.

3. Ugh, not the smartest idea
I read a "use of force" instruction for armed hospital security once, which instructed personnel never to fire on a moving vehicle, on the basis that, if you incapacitate the driver, you have just created a two-ton unguided projectile, capable of creating God knows what kind of damage.

That's how I felt when GWB was elected for his second term.

6. Shooting at people is such a rush. Especially in a parking lot full of families.
Clearly the speeding away vehicle was still a danger. Why didn't she drive after them?

Charles Bronson would have.

A concealed handgun permit holder, eh?

7. "A parking lot full of families"?
You're going to have to point out to me where it said in the article that the parking lot was "full of families," because I can't seem to see where it says that, let alone where it says that there were any such families in the line of fire.

I can point out to you, however, where thus far a couple of generally pro-RKBA people including myself have expressed doubts that firing at the departing vehicle was in any way a smart thing to do.

8. You speak as if you have experience at this.

I am thinking you either have a lack of training or just forgot the sarcasm tags.
