Gun control supporters - How much is enough? |
|
You got the NFA. Heavily restricts automatic weapons shortbarrel shotguns and destructive devices.
You got the GCA. No more mail order gun sales. No gun or ammunition sales to those under 18 or handgun sale to those under 21.
You got the hughes amendment. Closes the NFA registry.
You got the brady bill and background checks at retail.
You got prohibitions on mentally ill, domestic abusers and violent felons.
How much gun control is enough?
And more importantly, by what metric do you detmine that there is enough?

15. Who you gonna blame for |

the Ohio governors race?
Looks like you can vote for AWB and get elected against an A+ NRA candidate in the new 21 century.
Guns don't scare people, single issue people just use them to scare everyone.

12. It is never enough, at every step from now to a total gun ban and confiscation there is |
|
Someone willing to support it, lie and manipulate and trick you into allowing them to pass it. No matter how common sense it sounds we need to halt the advancement of all gun control and force them to either come to terms with and work on solving the real causes of violence in the US.

13. On domestic abuse ... |
|
... a husband and wife could get into a shouting match, and one or both of them could end up charged with Assault in the Fourth Degree here in Washington state. A conviction for Assault in the Fourth Degree against a household member, and you lose your guns. I believe this stems from the 1996 Lautenberg law, and comparable laws obtain in every state. http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=9.41.040http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=9A.36.041

14. Their own words make it plain. |
|
It has always been about the ban, a complete and total ban. That has always been the goal.
"Waiting periods are only a step. Registration is only a step. The prohibition of private firearms is the goal." - U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, December 1993
Anything short of a total ban is simply a step along the way. The proponents of gun control, the charters of their organizations, their writings and statements have made that clear from the beginning. Anyone who claims otherwise is a liar or a dupe.
"We're going to have to take one step at a time, and the first step is necessarily - given the political realities - going to be very modest. Of course, it's true that politicians will then go home and say, `This is a great law. The problem is solved.' And it's also true that such statements will tend to defuse the gun-control issue for a time. So then we'll have to start working again to strengthen that law, and then again to strengthen the next law, and maybe again and again. Right now, though, we'd be satisfied not with half a loaf but with a slice. Our ultimate goal - total control of handguns in the United States - is going to take time. My estimate is from seven to ten years. The first problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns being produced and sold in this country. The second problem is to get all handguns registered. And the final problem is to make the possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition - except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors - totally illegal." Pete Shields, Handgun Control Incorporated, 1976-The New Yorker

I don't have faith in your ability. I want you to have to buy insurance to carry a gun!

That's not even close to killing him. News media and some on DU and other anti-gunners have blown Zamudio's actions that day all out of proportion.

The vast majority of people wounding or killing others by gunfire don't own guns legally and sure as hell won't own insurance or carry a card with them.
