It will take force to remove Gadaffi from power. It will take people willing to die doing it. Gadaffi doesn't give a damn what President Obama, the U.N., Amnesty International or anybody else has to say. I don't see any "They did it all without guns" threads being bandied about this time around. Situations like this are why a Second Amendment type law guaranteeing the citizenry access to modern weaponry will always be necessary. As of 2/21/11 over 200 casualties are known. The actual toll is probably higher. Tyrants will always do what tyrants do. Amazing that we have to re-learn this over and over.

1. I usually don't advocate violence but
in this case someone needs to assassinate that bastard. It probably won't stop the violence at once but it would be a stop toward it.

4. Well you could always send Gadaffi an indignant e-mail demanding that he step down.
Or post something snarky because you disagree, oh wait...

5. +1000
Amazing how people forget how this country won its independence from an oppressive regime... it took a lot of guns and a lot of citizens.

9. Imagine the outcry from the Arab world (and DU'ers like you) if America did intervene...
"They're trying to take the oil and install a puppet government" would be the hue and cry. However, even cowpunchers like yourself can see that the people themselves must remove the despot and sort out their own future. And it's sure as hell easier to accomplish with proper armament. Here's a tip...Daisies stuck down rifle barrels and chanting "Hey, hey, ho, ho, big bad Gadaffi's got to go" probably won't work.

24. Why insist on a foreign solution?
Isn't is always better for the people of a native country themselves to rise up and demand democracy?

Why should foreigners impose it on them?

23. Democracy seemed pretty secure in the early 1920's Germany as well.
They even passed a few gun control laws too.

How did that work out for the German people 10 years later?

22. On the other hand...
If all the divided sides had all the weapons they wanted with no regulation control (NRA wet-dream) and toss in religious fundamentalism, leftist "evildours", capitalist opportunists and all those caught in between you get something like Afghanistan and Somalia. But that's okey. My right to dress up as John Rambo complete with 7.62 machine gun and 200 capacity ammo belt to go shopping in the supermarket is more important. You know the best part about going deer hunting with an RPG-7? You don't have to gut and clean the deer after-wards. It's all done for you automatically!
