Car accidents occur; therefore, brakes are useless |
|
The accident I saw this morning was not avoided by car brakes which shows us how useless that car brakes are.
This logic is just as bad as trying to explain that guns are worthless because someone once successfully shot or shot at a president or that a gun owner didn't stop a mass shooting. It's childish logic and does not address the level at which brakes help us avoid accidents or the number of times guns help us scare off an attacker or defend against an attacker or how many mass shootings are stopped by a citizen with a gun, all of which are impossible to quantify.

Did they actually apply their brakes?

6. So if no law abiding citizens or police officers had guns, you think your life |
|
Would continue on in a normal way? You'd probably become a victim of a violent crime eventually.
And I could drive without brakes, you can use your gears to slow down, drive slow, stay far back from the car in from to you and to decelerate the last 5 moh, use reverse and the clutch.

9. If no law-abiding citizens had guns my life would probably be unchanged |
|
If no cops had guns, it's difficult to say what the impact might be, but that's a red herring because virtually no one is arguing to disarm cops.

my daughter might have been raped or killed by the man who was forcing the sliding glass door of our home in Tamps. The was a 60 pound black Lab in the home and a burglar alarm was sounding. She pointed a large caliber revolver at the man and he ran. No shots were fired.
Now I have two grandsons to enjoy that might have never been born.

I guess I'd have to go back to B.C. technology to deal with the venomous snakes on the farm.

11. Guns are inextricably mixed with centuries of engineering and technology |
|
The concept of life without guns is completely moot. Even if you choose not to own or use them yourself, your safety and liberty depend very much on people who do own and use them.
