Woman Dies In Accidental Shooting In West Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A woman was shot in the back at a home on River Road Pike after a gun went off by accident around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Apparently the victim was a visiting a friend and his roommate at their West Nashville home. All three of them were in a bedroom, and she went to go sit down on the bed. The friend had a handgun under the covers. He went to move the gun out of the way and that's when it went off.

The bullet hit the woman in her back. She died instantly at the scene. Paramedics tried to save her, but it was too late.

Investigators are interviewing the two roommates. They don't believe that there was any sort of alcohol or drugs involved. At this point, police believe it was a complete accident.

1. There's that stupid word again. Accidental.
No such things when it comes to guns. These are acts of carelessness where someone should always be held liable.

3. It is curious, isn't it - all day, every day, there are accidents.
Accidents in cars. Accidents in planes. Accidents in the kitchen, in the bathroom, in the bedroom. Accidents at work. Accidents on the playing field. Accidents on the street. Accidents on the sidewalks. Accidents in the bicycle lanes. Accidents in the class room. Accidents in the board room.

But the only place there are never any accidents is when there is a gun involved. DANM they must the the SAFEST objects ever made.

5. Accident to me means that no one would be at fault.
That every circumstance that occurred was outside of anyone's control. If the gun was properly maintained, and somehow magically went off without anyone's interference that would be an accident.

But this seems to me to be negligent. The person handling the firearm did so, quite poorly and they killed someone. This was preventable, and I feel that the individual who shot her is responsible.

In the majority of so called firearm accidents there is someone, who did something wrong or stupid.

7. Bullshit.
99% off all accidents, guns or no, are the result of stupid people doing stupid things. That is the very definition of accident. An adverse, non-intentional result of an action or inaction.

By your twisted definition there is no such thing as a traffic accident. There is no such thing as an airline accident.

The "there are no accidents' meme was created by gunnies to make the case that every time there is a gun accident it is the individual ONLY who is at fault, not the fact that guns were created, from the beginning, with only one purpuse - to kill people. And they are very good at it. So good, that people even die in unintentional shootings. That being the case, the more guns there are out there, the more people will die. It is really very simple math.

The simple fact is there will always be stupid people, and there will always be guns in the hands of stupid people. The only possible way to mitigate that is to make them jump through so many hoops just to get a gun, weeding out the worst in the process, that there will be fewer guns in fewer hands.

17. Those who are denied legal access, will find illegal access. This is a simple fact as well.

18. If a deer leaps out in front of my car

I will have an accident. If I attempt to move a foolishly unholstered firearm and pull the trigger, shooting someone in the back, that is not an accident. Properly functioning firearms generally dont just go off, and many common ones anymore wont go off if dropped or impacted. So if it "went off" the trigger was pulled.

16. Need more than a brush. Stock trigger pulls and travels need definite pulls.
It is possible that the piece had a trigger job to reduce pull and travel. There are some limits to what is legal there in some states though. But since they completely ignored the three most fundamental rules of handling guns, I am going to assume that they would ignore any laws around guns as well.

And that is one of them. Whatever happened, it was irresponsible.
