Guns in College Classrooms? Not in Texas, After Campuses Fire Back
http://www.fairwarning.org/2011/04/guns-in-college-classrooms-not-in-texas-afer-campuses-fire-back/

A Texas bill to permit concealed handguns in college classrooms has faltered, thanks in large part to the mobilization of students and administrators in opposition to the plan.

As the Associated Press reports, the bill, which has the support of Republicans (edit: morans) in the Texas Legislature as well as (edit: moran) Gov. Rick Perry, seemed certain to pass just two months ago. But late protests caused two Democratic state senators who supported the bill to shift sides, thwarting two recent attempts to bring the bill to a vote in Texas’ upper house.

“I lost sleep over this,” said Mario Gallegos, a Democratic state senator from Houston and one of the two to withdraw support. “I’ve come to that reality with my community: They don’t want guns on campus.”

Among those objecting to the bill was the University of Texas system, led by Chancellor Francisco Cigarroa, who warned lawmakers in a letter that the bill would lead to more violence on campus.

1. Blocking gun bills in Texas has not proven to be a winning strategy
Ann Richards is the prime example.

5. "(edit: morans) in the Texas Legislature as well as (edit: moran)"
Unrec for the normal shtick. Try posting without it and have a normal conversation.
