A gun permit - and a medical marijuana card
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2011/04/16/MN561IPH36.DTL

Cynthia Willis calls up and down the firing range to be sure everyone knows she is shooting, squares up in a two-handed stance with her Walther P-22 automatic pistol and fires off a clip in rapid succession.

Willis is not only packing a concealed handgun permit in her wallet, she also has a medical marijuana card. That combination has led the local sheriff to try to take her gun permit away.

She is part of what is considered the first major court case in the country to consider whether guns and marijuana can legally mix. The sheriffs of Washington and Jackson counties say no. But Willis and three co-plaintiffs have won in state court twice, with the state's rights to regulate concealed weapons trumping federal gun control law in each decision.

With briefs filed and arguments made, they are now waiting for the Oregon Supreme Court to rule.

1. Would the sheriff give a rat's ass
about an end-stage alcoholic with a gun permit? Do I really need to spell out which one gives me more reason for concern?

2. Well...
As long as she isn't stoned when she is shooting I see no problem. Hell look at the idiots that drink and are out shooting, or hunting! In my opinion drugs and booze do not mix well with guns, period, but what you do when you are not shooting should have nothing to do with whether you carry a concealed weapon, or not! People go to bars all the time "packing", and I am willing to bet there are more cases of those idiots shooting someone than someone who is high on pot!

4. You have something against medical marijuana users too?
You seem to have a distressing pattern of wanting to control what folks do in their private lives...the classic signs of an authoritarian.

5. I feel Much safer knowing a cannabis consumer
might be carrying a weapon over the average "on the street" crazy who insists on carrying to a Presidential rally!

6.  But if they see you eating ice cream
they might cone jack you.

Seriously, as long as she's not under the influence while carrying what's the problem?

7. Seriously, There is no problem
as long as they never eat ice cream while carrying. In Oregon it would be enough to create a "probable cause".:)

10. The difference for me is
That Alcohol makes people very violent.

Cannabis works very differently and a person under the "influence" of Cannabis Knows they are slightly impaired and most likely would never Touch a gun while using it.

11. This is a local issue for me.
I live in the same county and only a few miles away from this lady. I have a lot of friends with med cards that are VERY pissed off at Sheriff Mike Winters for doing this as they'd like to get their concealed carry permits and aren't sure they'll be able to. I've personally never even smoked, but I'd definitely trust all of my friends who have med cards with a concealed carry license. One of them actually regularly open carries with me.

13. Didn't you once claim to be in a medical field?
Perhaps you can list the medications (or classes of them), that you feel should abrogate a person from exercising a Civil Right, and perhaps which Civil Rights.
