6-year-old brings gun to Texas school, 3 hurt

(AP) – 7 minutes ago

HOUSTON (AP) — Officials say three students have been injured after a 6-year-old brought a loaded gun to his Houston elementary school that accidentally discharged when it fell out of the child's pocket.

Houston Independent School District Public Information Officer Norm Uhl tells Fox News that none of the injuries appears to be life-threatening.

Officials say Ross Elementary school was placed on lockdown Tuesday.

Images taken from Houston television KPRC's news helicopter show three children being wheeled to ambulances on stretchers.

9. And if anyone had ever argued that, maybe you'd have a non-silly point.
Otherwise, you're just being absurd, like the wingnuts who claim that Democrats think no one should ever have to work, and that we want to give free luxury cars to crack dealers.

How about you actually try to argue a point?

14. Perhaps he tried to catch it? In any event, it seems highly likely that there was negligence
in the home, and if so there should be repercussions...

Glad the injuries were slight.

22. Dumbass Plaxico tried to grab the gun as it was slipping down his pants
Edited on Tue Apr-19-11 03:55 PM by RamboLiberal
And got his finger on the trigger.

That's why it's very unwise to carry a gun in your pants without a holster.

As he was walking upstairs, Burress said he missed a step and the gun began to slide down his pantleg. Burress said he reached to stop it from hitting the ground when he accidentally pulled the trigger through his pants.

"My finger hit, like, right on the trigger," he said. "What are the odds on that happening?"

17. In what sense?
The lack of details in the report makes it border on useless for news.

What is there to discuss about it? The child illegally brought a gun to school. Except for the straw men, no one is going to claim this is a good thing and ought be be legal. What is it that you want to discuss about this article?

19. It's news,
it's tragic, and it's something people here may want to discuss. That doesn't mean it should automatically get a rec, but why an unrec?

If a story doesn't especially interest you, you just move on to the next.

31. I have always understood that the point of a 'Rec' was for a story of particular importance
and interest to get bumped to the Greatest page for wider visibility. Don't really see how this qualifies that way.

Obviously, however, people use (Un)Rec for a wide range of reasons, and complaining about it from either end is one of the more laughable DU behaviors, IMO. Personally, I've never bothered with it...

instead of just snarky comments then the discussion could go forward. Just seems like the ones that oppose guns don't want to do that.

25. I unrecced because of the lack of discussion in the OP
I think the OP should make an initial commentary on why they are posting AND because of the stupid snarky comments with no contribution to the OP. We can all be sarcastic at times but if all you are doing is taking a swipe at gun owners, like it looks like the OP was trying to do then I will unrec. The OP has not made another post in this thread. Looks like a drive-by.

33. Pro-rights posters sometimes celebrate when a bad guy is injured with a gun,
and anti-rights folks seem happiest when an innocent person is hurt. I don't particularly approve of the former, but the latter is just perverse...
