Here we have two armed criminals intent on armed robbery of an internet cafe. Inside is an armed security guard. The criminals have the advantage of surprise, and catch the security guard off-guard.

In spite of being surprised and outnumbered, the security guard returns fire and kills one of the perpetrators.

This is a perfect example of self-defense with a firearm.

It shows that:

Despite common arguments to the contrary, people can successfully resist armed assailants even when surprised.

Unarmed victims in this case would have had no choice but to submit to the demands of their attackers.

Here we have to more criminals who decide to violently assault a single victim, only this time, the victim is defenseless. Even while surrounded by employees who do little (except film the attack and encourage the perpetrators to flee before the police arrive), the victim is still pummeled in the head until she is having a seizure.

4. I have no problems with firearm ownership as long as the owners take proper care.

Last thing anyone needs is another Columbine or other school shooting, as well as just basic accidents that could have been prevented with just a little caution before hand. I've seen people less cautious with a firearm than I am with a grinder or a torch out in the garage.

5. What about the shots outside? It looks like one of the robbers is hit while

fleeing out the door, and then the guard followed them out. The last part seems to be a bit of a mistake to me.

Morally, I'm fine with the guard's actions, but is it all strictly legal and tactically correct? (I wouldn't ask, except you said "perfect." :) )

10. I don't live in Florida, but I'll give my opinion.

Obviously, legal implications depend on the state one lives in, but Florida is a pretty loose state as far as gun restrictions go.

As for shooting them outside, I say its not the most legal thing to do. When somebody is running, you aren't suppose to chase them. You are supposed to shoot until the threat stops. No, maybe they were going to the car to get other guns, in which case you don't want to just wait inside for them to come back.

I think the best action would have been for him to stay inside once they were fleeing, but that is easy for me to say sitting here on my keyboard, with time to think about it and calm. Although I think shooting them outside was not the best choice, personally I think he did what seemed right at the time, and for that I won't fault the guy. In no way would I bring up any charges against the security guard if I had a say it it.

To put it another way, my opinion is you don't taunt a dog, then complain when he bites. If you bring a gun to commit a crime, and somebody oversteps the bounds, I'll blame that on the criminal who started the situation, not the guy who unwillingly was put into the situation.
