Busted! Nations with high murder rates trying to pass themselves off as having little violence
http://www.unodc.org/documents/data-and-analysis/IHS-rates-05012009.pdf

Based on WHO the following nations are some of the nations lying about their murder rate

Nigeria claims their murder rate is around 1-2, when in fact it is more like 17.7 (WHO)
Sierra lion busted claiming theirs is 2-3, when it is 34 based on (WHO)

Just to mention a few.

What's the point? These countries also have very few firearms per 100. Nigeria has about 1.5 / 100 and sierra lion has 0.6 / 100

1. Send guns there immediately!
Proof positive that there is no situation on gawd's green earth that cannot be improved through the proliferation of firearms.

2. you said it

I didn't

I think this shows us that artificially trying to reduce gun ownership by making more difficulty for law abiding citizens to own guns does not reduce violence (probably increases violence)

9. I don't remember any pro-RKBA posters in the Gungeon ...
discussing God, let alone saying that "Guns are God". I know that I personally do not believe that.

The only mention of religion here that I can remember dealt with a discussion if Jesus approved of self defense.

Perhaps you can refresh my memory and posts links to the discussions I must have missed.

4. firearm stats for Nigeria also wrong
Edited on Sat Apr-23-11 06:34 PM by Teaser
Friend of mine is from Nigeria. Guns are much more common than the official stats.

One wonders why you trust one of the official stats, but not the other.

5. not legal arms
I am sure. Most likely military automatic weapons owned by various militias, not folks buying a pistol or rifle at your local sporting goods store.

7. they see the few guns they have more often in public.
Edited on Sat Apr-23-11 06:54 PM by lawodevolution
Your friend is probably going of of feel based on how many guns he saw there compared to here.

Here guns are almost never seen in public, but 1.5 guns per 100 people showing up in public more often will produce the appearance of there being more guns in public. That and 2007 small arms survey is the trusted source, not your buddy.

10. let's drop all the pretense, it is about culture, Swiss are heavily armed, little violence, the US
is heavily armed, tonnes of violence. The US cultural zeitgeist is steeped in violence, domination, base capitalism's rapacious appetite for ever ongoing expansion. Moderation in most forms, is depicted, at taproot sociological levels, as capitulation and weakness. There is a large dispersion, encouraged by the systemic controllers, of a false mythos of "pull-yourself-up by your own bootstraps" rugged individualism.

When rugged individualism betrays an individual (or a group) as an effective modus operandi for societal prescribed norms, material accumulations, mores, and standards of lifestyle, group vs group scapegoating and violence ensues at all levels.

The true bitter irony is that the controllers at the top are indeed the least 'rugged individualistic' of all, as they have created the ultimate parasitic monetary system, wherein they become bloated tics, succored by the blood-work of the gigantic host (ie, the 99.9% bottom of the body politic). They, like the ancien regime of Europe, the patricians of Rome, and the Pharaohs of Egypt, et al., are simple totalitarian rent-seekers.

And they do truly fear that their blood source in this unique American system, is still armed. To what level that fear is acted out upon, at multi-dimensional schema within society, remains to be seen. Meanwhile, until the culture is rent asunder from its ideological underpinnings of violence, the death will roll on.
