2. Whatever...
Looks like a pretty big waste of money. Why not just have a small revolver if you want personal protection. A small .38 all you need. Anything more is indicative of a personal penis perception psychosis.

16. oh yuck

"iver johnson"

I have just realized that there are guns named after me. I mean, if I changed my surname. If I did, would that make me a tool?

Knowing me, it'd be a tool of the forces of darkness and the freedom-hating authoritarianism mongers. No change there, then.

7. Small .38? Perhaps you've seen the video of the guy who
attacked his lawyer shooting him 5 or 6 times from about 2 feet away with a small revolver?

19. Yes I saw the video
and, with his aim, that guy couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.

10. I'll see your .38 and raise you a .45 ACP
I plan to get the job done right the first time.

There was good reason for the U.S> military to ditch the .38 for the .45. The .38 is only marginally effective when you need a body stopped. Too bad they went to the 9mm. IMHO it's far inferior to the .45 for close in work.

15. Why have a nice house? A small one-bedroom efficiency is all you need.

17. You're amusing.
Evidently you didn't read "and plinking". You are the only one writing about the penis.

18. The only ones who ever mention the penis-gun connection are anti-gunners.
So it's a little difficult for me to accept that we are the ones with the fixation.

21. Isn't it a little hypocritial to own several guns...
...if "all you need" is a small .38?

Or does that only apply to other people?

22. Nope...
My son use one shotgun, I use the other when we bird hunt. I keep the .38 for rattlesnakes when we hunt and for the occasional burglar if our German Shepard doesn't get him first. And the .243 is for the rare time I go deer hunting. So they all have uses. I have no more than I need because I'm not obsessed with guns.

23. Chances are
your shotguns would be better for rattlesnakes than that .38 Special.

24. Yeah but...
If I want the skin the .38 does a much nicer job when the snake is coiled up. For me, its easy to ruin two or three places on the skin with the shotgun if you can't get a clean head shot. Its easier to work with a couple of holes if I miss with the .38 than a bunch of small holes with the shotgun. In other words, you can cut 5 feet or so of nice skin down to two piece of 2 1/2 feet or so real easy with a shotgun. My waist isn't that small!

8. You know you're the 2nd or 3rd person I think I've seen
mention they bought one of those here on DU. Maybe we should make it the official gun of DU.

9. What caliber did you get?
Personally, I find it an ugly gun, but it 's certainly made well and sounds like it has some wonderful engineering helping to keep it accurate. I'd still prefer a nice Weatherby, but I applaud your right to own this thing, and especially applaud your right to like the looks of it!

11. I kinda like it.
I got my wife its baby brother, the U22 NEOS - as if she needs another .22 pistol, but then, it's not about need or I wouldn't be ready to invest in a 4th safe.

Have fun!
