Holsters????
What kind of holsters does the handgun crowd here use? Lots of neat holster options out there; just looking for some new ones.

1. Alessi leather
I mostly use Alessi leather holsters. I typically carry a Glock 23 in an Alessi Hideout IWB leather holster pr a Glock 26 in an Alessi leather ankle holster. I also have a tuckable Kydex holster from Comp-Tac for my G26. It allows me to tuck in my shirt over the holster. I also carry a Kahr MK40 in a basic nylon Nemesis pocket holster from DeSantis.

A good stiff belt is also key for any belt-mounted holsters.

6. holsters
Hmm, I'd like to try all these, if I can afford it. What did they set you back? Are they all made in the US?

9. Cost
They are all made in the U.S.

Alessi holsters are fairly expensive. Comp-tac holsters are not cheap, but they are inexpensive relative to others of comparable quality.

When I bought my Alessi ankle holster, it was $90. I think they are $115 now. My Alessi Hideout IWB I bought used, but in excellent condition. New, they cost $80 now. I also have an Alessi Bodyguard shoulder holster that I picked up used. They are $125 new.

I'd stay away from a shoulder holster unless you have a specific need for one.

Alessi holsters are available from http://www.rfholsters.com
Comp-tac's website is at http://www.comp-tac.com

2. For CCW, Cowboy Action or other?
I'm partial to Hedley. R. J. makes some great products for CCW.

All hand made, finished as you choose and at a reasonable price. Check out his web site.

But if you're looking for something for Cowboy Action Shooting try Texas Jack's. You can get there through the Cimarron Arms site.

Alessi does a nice job too and I have two Galco leather holsters that are nicely finished, for a factory stock unit.

3. I use an Uncle Mike's nylon ankle holster for CC.
Inside-the-waistband just isn't comfortable for me.

5. Mexican Carry
Just stick it in my pants.

Nah, J/K.

I'll have to look into getting a good holster when I finally decide to get a concealed carry license.

8. Pictures of my stuff.

Springfield XD9SC, an XD 9mm Subcompact with a 3 inch barrel. It is carried in the C.Tac holster from www.comp-tac.com which looks like this:

This picture shows the 0 degree to 25 degree adjustable cant. When the holster is worn properly, all somebody will see is this:

Best holster set up I have ever had. Even my wife has trouble figuring if I am carrying.

11. I second the Comp-tac C-T.A.C.
I carry a full size auto in one all day every day. I've gotten so used to it I usually don't notice it's there.

IWB is the only practical option for me. It's way too hot where I live to put up with any sort of cover garment and you can tuck your shirt tail over the C-T.A.C. as shown in the FatSlob's post. Only I got mine with V-Clips. V-Clips use velcro on the clip. The 'fuzzy' part of the velcro goes on the inside of your belt and nothing at all shows outside the belt. I took the hint from the Comp-tac website and ordered a belt from Tucker Gunleather with the velcro sewn into the belt. This rig is absolutely stable and as concealed as it gets. I love it!

You certainly can't "tuck over" with mexican carry and I've heard too many horror stories about people shooting themselves. Actually met one guy that shot himself throug the abdomen and out the ass cheak. Gonna carry a gun? The advice I give my students is to adopt a professional attitude and get a good holster.

10. Uncle Mike's
I use Uncle Mike's polymer clip-on holsters for my 1911 and Beretta 92. I prefer them over Fobus because of the restraining screws which allows one to custom tighten the pistol in the holster. I like the clip-on style cause it's easy on and easy off. When I go out to check my cows it's easy to pop the pistol on my hip, I don't even have to loosen my belt.
