New crime tactics in S Jersey...
This really burns my butt. As anybody who has been there knows, Cape May is a town with a high retiree and elderly population. For about 8 months out of the year, it's a sleepy little Victorian seaside community. The other 4, hooligans from Philadelphia and NYC pour into Cape May and the Wildwoods, where I call home. Anyways, here's another little bit of cheery news for your Monday AM...

Police seek thieves targeting elderly in shore towns
By W.F. KEOUGH and BRIAN IANIERI Staff Writer, (609) 463-6710 Staff Writer

Police in two Cape May County shore towns are searching for teams of women they say are targeting the elderly for theft.

The thieves struck two homes - one in Sea Isle City and another in Cape May - on Wednesday, according to police.

In Cape May, two women stole $4,000 in jewelry from an elderly woman's home.

1. So, I guess the "gun dungeon"
is not concerned with crimes that occur sans guns?

4. We have this type of crime here also from time to time. I'm...
...glad that the police are getting the word out. One thing that helped here was reminding people to lock the back door before answering the front. One other tactic that was used was to steal some checks from the middle of the book of checks in someone's checkbook. By the time the victim realizes what has happened, it is too late.

7. "lowlife"
I think "lowlife" pretty much sums it up.

8. Attacks/robberies on/of the elderly are despicable and the...
...second to the worst after attacks on children. All too often the elderly have money and are easy prey. Here it is a much more serious crime to attack someone that is elderly as there are additional penalties for this. Killing a child under six can land you on death row.

6. Preying on the elderly...
is big business everywhere. In Cincinnati there have been a rash of home improvement scam artists and predatory lenders targeting the elderly, especially in the minority community. They are generally "safer" targets for the predators.

9. Sadly, this happens in all retirement areas
One of the safest retirement areas I've seen is Sun City, AZ, including Sun City West, Sun City Grand, etc.

In the '60's the Sun City Sheriff's Posse was formed. It's mostly used for trafic control at the Sun Bowl and Sun Dome for concert events or during parades, but since the pose members are all reserve deputies of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Dept. (as well as a large number being retired LEO's), theives and scam artists generally give the place a wide berth. A very active neighborhood watch throughout the 100,000+ member community is also a major factor.

Tieves and scam artists who prey upon the elderly rate right up there with pond scum in my book.

slogan is tough on crime, but we can break the rules in the process. ? Arpaio's quote, "I told my officers to get naked if that is what it takes to nab the prostitutes" LMAO. THat is funnnnnnnny :7
