Carolyn McCarthy spoke up for the AWB at the convention
Just now. Talking about Bush promising to sign legislation to extend the AWB. She "knows" Kerry will fight for it.

2. seems like a "burial" to me
if we were really pushing this so-called "AWB," and it was such a pressing issue, why wasn't she given a prime time speech slot, instead of the 4 o'clock slump??

3. Tell us, rom, when's the pro-assault weapons speech?
Oh, that's right...nobody but folks like the Aryan Nations are pimping for assault weapons in public....

wasn't it?

Sorry for your loss, Carolyn, but your hand wringing and sob story doesn't justify your game plan.

Same basic concept.

Its like those people only trying to get the cars with lots of chrome banned. While the chrome does nothing for the performance of the car, it looks scary.

But the gun lobby itself showed what a pantload THAT line was....

20. Its surprising that you dont see the slippery slope
I think that is what most honest gun owners fear. Its really not whether or not they can get a larger magazine or folding stock, they can already do that. The issue is whether or not we will allow the continued degradation of our rights.

You continually put out the straw man that we only oppose the AWB because the proscribed accessories make the weapons more capable. The real issue is whether we will stand by and allow the incremental taking of our rights.

28. The slope keeps getting steeper too!
It seems to me that these anti-gun folks are really poor shots, they can never focus in on the 10 ring. The vast majority of gun homicides are committed by criminals mis-using a pistol. Every state has law on the books covering the illegal carrying of weapons. Why don't they push for stiffer penalties? Is that too simple? It isn't rocket science. I hear talk in the party for States rights regarding Gay marriage, why not gun laws? No, they believe that banning a whole class of firearm from everybody is better than severe punishment for the few that mis-use them.
Slippery slope? "Assault weapons" first, then "sniper rifles" then Saturday night specials" moving on to the bullet hose A.K.A. the shotguns........
Group punishment doesn't work too well on citizens, it tends to piss them off. Its just a damn shame that these leeches have decided to feed off the Democratic party in my ever so humble opinion.

"I hear talk in the party for States rights regarding Gay marriage, why not gun laws?"
Perhaps because none but the lunatic fringe think assault weapons on the market is a good idea, cross?

21. In all seriousness, it would be helpful if whatever you, or others,...
...feel is a lie to point it out, along with a statement as to what is allegedly the untruth, as well as something to back up this assertion. Note that steaming poopy pants is not considered a valid response beyond the kindergarten playground.

25. No offense, but....
most of this crap is just the same shit, different day....

By the way, it's wonderful to see how that theory that was spawned on a right wing loony board keeps popping up over here....you'd almost think some of our "pro gun democrats" were trolling over from somewhere else on a regular basis....

And it's always heartwarming to see how sincerely the RKBA crowd frets that I'm not making a convincing case.....ludicrous and hilarity-evoking, but touching nonetheless....

...unable to shake myself free of this nagging dread that this constant farrago of hysteria, stupidity and outright dishonesty on the part of the RKBAers is doing serious harm to the noble and uplifting cause of pooping in the park, er, GUNS GUNS GUNS....

And I mean that sincerely.

Honest.

34. soldering! soldering!

Soldering is dun with guns! And it uses resources! And it's dangerous! And children could get hurt! And there's lead in there somewhere, isn't there? Why would anybody want to solder on? There's enough soldering in the world already, nobody needs to do any more of it.

Eh? What's that? You were talking about the militia?

Well, that's different ... never mind.

They pretend it's a non-issue until AFTER they are elected. Only then will they attempt any reform.

30. The irony about Carolyn McCarthy is...
She claims she is pushing to ban assault weapons because of a tragic shooting that took the life of her husband and wounded her son. While certainly tragic it should be noted that the lunatic who did this used not an assault weapon but rather a 9mm pistol obtained in California, a state not known for it's lax gun laws.

What Ms. McCarthy SHOULD be pushing for is strict, enforcible, life sentences for those who commit crimes with guns. Just my opinion of course.

And the instant that these laws pass, there will be her husband in the shower when she wakes up, just like on Dallas. It will all have been a dream!
