Amused: The name of the man who issues permits in Florida
His name is Charles Bronson. His electronic signature is on all Florida Concealed Weapon Licenses. Quite amusing.

1. Ironic, eh?
I'm expecting my FL CCW permit in the mail any day now.

2. Could be worse, I have Katherine Harris' name on mine.
Charles Bronson is the guy who approves the meters on all the gasoline pumps, too.

4. I wonder if they will issue a "honorary permit" to someone...
...in another state. It would be fun to have on the wall. I could put it next to my Hooters application, filled out in crayon, with accompanying rejection. :)

5. Why an "honorary" permit?
Why not just get a real one. Florida will issue permits to any law abiding citizen who passes the FBI background check and meets the other state requirements.

6. No honorary ones, but you can apply for one.
I currently live in Ohio, and have applied for my Florida. My licenses are from the following states.

Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Florida (Still waiting for it to be issued)

Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, and Florida are all issued through the mail.

8. Florida's licensing bureau is actually very efficient....
I got mine about a month after submitting the paperwork, they told me it would take 6-8 weeks.

11. yep -sure do
IIRC, the FL permit is good in 28-or-so states (I have one). The Utah permit gets you one or two more (I have that one, too), but the number of states that accept the FL permit keeps increasing.

For instance, AZ just signed on this year to FL reciprocity, reducing the value of the UT permit by one state.

12. Yes, they do.
With Ohio, I get the states of:

Alaska, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Washington, and Wyoming.

With my Pennsylvania, I get:

Alaska, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, and Wyoming.

Therefore I gained the states of Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Montana.

With my New Hampshire, I get:

Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Wyoming.

Therefore, I gained Alabama, Colorado, and North Dakota.

With my future Florida, I get:

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Wyoming.

Therefore, I will gain: Arizona, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Dakota, Texas.

This totals out to nearly 30 States. I will probably apply for Maine and Connecticut in the future.

Bad news though... a non-resident permit is $107.00
