Nothing says "gun safety" like shooting yourself during a gun safety demo

Toumey told The Herald-Times for a story published today that he was demonstrating gun safety to some people at a Lake Monroe boat ramp about 11 p.m. Wednesday when he accidentally shot himself.

He said that as he checked to make sure his weapon was unloaded, the gun discharged, and a bullet struck him in his left leg.

"It's an unfortunate accident," Toumey said. "I've always been very, very safe."

Dali Lama. Good advice. Sort of redundant phrase, now that I look at it. "Live ammunition" Is there 'dead' ammunition. Certainly duds and blanks, but that's just 'live' until you fire and either don't get a bang (former) or don't get a bullet (latter). Not the time nor the fashion I want to find out it's not 'live' because that's the way I want to stay for a while longer - LIVE.

I have to agree he was a Jack Ass for using live ammo.

Always use dummy rounds during a class/demo.
