England OKs recreational marijuana (Wash. Times) |
|
LONDON, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Smoking marijuana will no longer be against the law under new British government plans, the London Mirror reported Friday.
Beginning January, recreational users of the drug will be free from prosecution, unless they are pushers, the newspaper said.
Cannabis will be downgraded to a Class C drug, although people smoking near schools and playgrounds will face arrest and have the cannabis confiscated.

All I saw was the UP wire article.
Home Secretary David Blunkett's plans follow a campaign by recreational users who argue the drug is less harmful than alcohol.
I don't know if I would say it is less harmful than alcohol, at the very least it is equivalent, in my opinion.

4. The Mirror is not exactly |
|
the most reliable paper...and the Reverend Moon's propaganda sheet is even less so....I'll wait to see a confirmation in another British paper myself.
But if true, it puts us at odds with both Canada and Britain and makes this appointistration turning a blind eye to Afghanistan's opium production look even MORE hypocritical.

6. When the US eventually follows, we will release tens of thousands |
|
of citizens and reduce jail and prison budgets accordingly.
The sooner the better. :bounce:
