Rocket from Gaza slams into southern Israel

GAZA (Reuters) - Palestinian militants fired rockets into southern Israel from Gaza on Wednesday.

No casualties or damage were reported.

Palestinian witnesses said militants fired two rockets from Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza. Israeli military aircraft were spotted flying overhead immediately afterwards.

An Israeli military source said troops found the remains of the rocket near a college in Sderot, a southern Israeli town targeted in rocket attacks on Monday after Israel killed a leading militant.

The flare-up of violence threatened to unravel an eight-month-old cease-fire.
