Jennifer Karen Hughes Mizrahl - an amazing clone

Jennifer was on W.J. this morning, carrying water for Sharon (she's american).

she loudly and forcefully made the usual pro talking points for Sharon and Israel.

she kept calling the Wall a fence. they can call it a fence all they want, but it's still a shameful WALL.

she said Sharon made some mistakes when he was younger (mass murder) but he has been working for peace lately.

Is Jennifer a lobbyist? does somebody pay her?

6. OK some is fence and some is wall - but it's an unkind fence

and the wall part is puzzling to me knowing the Jewish history of being made to live behind walls. I'm not asking for an explanation just making a comment. the thread is about Jennifer.

10. The FENCE is unkind? The terrorists are kind?
I don't think the thread is really about Jennifer. The thread is about another opportunity to attack Israel and if possible spread some disinformation.

16. MAYBE she has her own ideas? Did THAT occur to you?
People don't need to be paid to have the courage of their convictions, particularly when a situation is complex and can be viewed from many angles.

What you believe is wrong, for example the fence, can easily be argued from the other perspective.

14. About 3% of the total length is wall and has the purpose of blocking
line of sight sniper fire in several areas where it has occurred from higher ground on the Palestinian side, into population centers and sections of highway in Israel.

17. I don't think people GET IT. The purpose of the barrier is not
Edited on Sat Jan-07-06 03:55 PM by Colorado Blue
to inflict misery on people. It is to SAVE LIVES. It is maddening that the key problem in the region - VIOLENCE - is never addressed when criticizing Israel.

And nor is it recognized that said violence is endemic all over the region, including big swathes of Africa, and that the violence in and around Israel is reflective of a far larger problem, which is that TALKING ABOUT PROBLEMS instead of shooting and bombing, doesn't seem to be that popular an idea.

In fact the prepondence of dictatorial and theocratic and corrupt regimes in the region should give folks a clue that maybe all is not well in regional politics. Establishing open, civil and democratic governments is proving to be a slow and difficult process, as we can see in Iraq. And moreover these problems long predate the existence of Israel.

But as far as the security barrier is concerned, people might want to check out the violence in Gaza. Israel's withdrawal hasn't created peace, it's apparently resulted in anarchy and continued attacks on Israel but also on the border with Egypt, where Palestinian police stormed the crossing and a few days later, other Palestinians drove bulldozers through THAT wall and shot two Egyptian police. And violence is rife within the Palestinian community, even as rocket barrages continue to assault Israeli towns.

I know you know this, I'm just venting. But maybe somebody will read it and it will create some enlightenment.

9. Berlin started out as a fence too.....
Perhaps the reason it's not yet a wall is that they haven't gotten around to finishing it yet. But if Nuttie Yayhoo manages to win the next election, I'm sure that won't be a problem.

21. The Israeli wall/fence is there to keep killers OUT, not to keep
anyone IN.

That's the difference between it and the Berline wall.

12. I effin' CONFESS
I am pro-Israel (wife's parents were HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS - and both lost siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins in the HOLOCAUST).

I don't expect any DUer to be an or a or, as they commemorate at Yad Vashem, a -- too busy conflating "Jewish" with all manner of "NeoCon" and "PNAC" and "Likud", and conflating "Israel" with every problem facing every Islamic person in the whole world.

What has being a good Progressive (money and time to the ACLU - with some career disenhancement; precinct canvassing, manning phone banks, opposition research, volunteering as a Constituent Services worker in a hard line liberal Assembly members district office, etc.) done - nothing. I'm still a PNACer and a NEOCON to the latte sipping, sushi eating, Prius driving libs here (I'm also a latte sipping, sushi eating, Prius driving, NY Times and SF Chron reading, KQED watching lib - but still a Likudnik, a Neocon, a PNACer to my self appointed "superiors")

How come no one has responded to your post, Coastie?

I am so sick of the Israel bashing ... guess the HATE ISRAEL crowd agrees with the nutjob from Iran that the Holocaust didn't happen.

I salute those on DU that continue to try to talk to the Anti-Israel cabal here. As for me, I have compiled a very long list of IGNORED individuals in a very short time.

Once again I ask the question of the Anti-Israel cabal, is pushing American Jews out of the progressive movement in the best interest of THIS country? Perhaps you should save your scorn for the MORANS in power here in the US and try to understand that Bushco does not LOVE Jews any more than you do. I understand that and am NOT a Neo-Con because I am a Jew and love and support Israel. I don't condone EVERYTHING Israel does any more than I condone what the Bush administration does. Get it?
