Rightist's dog compensated
The Small Claims Court in Jerusalem ordered on Thursday two Hebron policemen to pay NIS 1,000 (about USD 220) in compensation to right-wing activist Itamar Ben-Gvir for pointing their guns at his dog.

Ben-Gvir filed a lawsuit in October 2005 against the two policemen whom he accused of falsely arresting him and pointing a loaded gun at his dog.

The judge accepted the policemen's claim that the dog had scared them but ruled that Ben-Gvir was falsely remanded for interrogation.

3. I would like to post photos of all those times the Israelis are
pointing M-16's at Palestinian children. Especially the one where the boy is peeing his pants. The daily terror of growing up under Israeli occupation.

Yet these dogs are something special in the eyes of the Israeli courts.

4. Under the Intifada Law...

...Palestinians cannot sue the Israeli government for events that take place in 'conflict zones.'

In that respect, this dog has more rights than Palestinians.

2. Another example of the intimidation police face from Rightist in Israel
That's why, that even if there were police in Hebron and other places where there are extremist settlers and wanted to do the right thing (not saying there are, i have heard no evidence of that), they would not, because of the problems they will face.

What if a policeman were to actually arrest someone for throwing stones at Palestinian children???
What kind of lawsuit would he face then!

7. What kind of bullshit is this?
First, what in the blue blazes does this have to do with I/P? Is it because it is a story in Israel? Second, the headline is bullshit...he was given the money because the judge "...ruled that Ben-Gvir was falsely remanded for interrogation." Third, is this the level this forum is going to sink to?

9. Hebron Settler cannot even be questioned, without suing officer
and he wins in court.

From story:
Ben-Gvir told the court that while he was walking his dog at the Givat Haavot neighborhood in Hebron on October 6, he encountered a local policeman. Chompy the dog started barking at the officer, and the man in response drew his gun at the canine and said, "if the dog doesn't stop barking, I'll shoot him and you."

Ben-Gvir claims he had asked the policeman to provide him with his personal details, but the officer refused to do so and left the scene. Some twenty minutes later, the lawsuit states, five policemen arrived at the extreme rightist's house and arrested him on suspicion he had threatened the officer, saying that "if someone hurts Chompy, I'll hurt you," and that he was walking his dog without a muzzle.
_________
From above story. This is an example of the power of the extreme right has in the Israeli courts, and the political situation in Israel.

Second, on numerous occasions we have looked at the countless attacks against Palestinians-- women, children and elderly adults, who face these same Israeli extremists, especially in Hebron, where this man lives. We have seen the reluctance of the Israeli military/police to do anything to stop the settler attacks, even when they are witnessed by internationals. This helps explain why.

Thanks for posting this, occuserpens.
