Gaza 'crisis as bad as Lebanon'
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/5240424.stm

The United Nations has called on world leaders not to forget the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, saying it is at least as serious as that in southern Lebanon.

More than 140 people have been killed during Israel's operations there over the past month, many of them civilians.

Delivery of food and other essential items has been reduced to a trickle.

Thirty aid agencies backed the appeal, and one charity spoke of a sense among aid agencies that Gaza's population was being terrorised....

2. The Palestinians have been victimized for,...YEARS.
Edited on Wed Aug-02-06 10:53 PM by Just Me
Interesting that the Israelis are prepared to eradicate them,...well, have been oppressing them for all these years.

If we were a fair and just and democratic nation,...we would certainly advocate the survival of the Palestinians. But, we don't. Why?

AIPAC and PNAC,...that's why. They have an agenda that precludes the "rule of law" to their own, FORCED BY DEATH upon all others,..."collectively", even (smell fascism,...yes, me too,...they have become the monsters they battled). :wow:

How fucked up is THAT?!?!?!?!

I need not wonder why anti-Americanism exists,...and it's not just the issue with Palestinians. U.S. international corporations have been oppressing peoples across the world for decades. When the governments don't cooperate, the U.S. delivers death atop oppression. This country has EARNED being loathed as a bully, an oppressor, an enemy.

Ten years ago, I would never have imagined, let alone digest, the horrors of U.S.-backed international corporacrats. I no longer claim to be an "American". I CAN'T!!!!! I am a member of the human race and DEMAND THAT THE "RULE OF LAW" APPLY TO LEADERS AS WELL AS CITIZENS!!!!

That's all I have to say,...about all that.

3. 1000 people sheltered in schools by UN
no power, little clean water and food, living in fear and being bombed several times a week.

"Several nights a week the noise of Israeli helicopters vibrates over Gaza followed by the sudden explosion of air strikes.

Israel has begun dropping leaflets and leaving telephone messages warning residents not to stay near militant homes but aid organisations say such measures leave people terrified and with nowhere safe to go. "

5. given the horrendous suffering of the Jewish people . . .
throughout history, you'd think that Israel would become a force for peace and reconciliation . . . instead, the current government has chosen to be a force for war and further division . . . and by doing so, they threaten their nation's very survival . . .

Gaza is getting obscured by what's going on in Lebanon

9. Well then, Hamas can just return...
...the Israeli soldier they kidnapped and order their militant to stop firing Qazzam rockets at Israeli's.

This humantarian situation can be ended right quick if Hamas just does those simple things.

Hamas started this, and as the Palestinian people voted for Hamas they are largely responsible for their own dire situation.

10. What are they trying to accomplish?
They withdrew from Gaza and were making progress.

There have been reports Israel kidnapped 2 civilians the day before the first Israeli soldier was kidnapped from Gaza. I wonder if we find out why they were taken, if that will explain what their goals are in Gaza now.
