Hezbollah rockets kill eight

HEZBOLLAH rockets killed eight people in northern Israel, in one of the most lethal barrages launched by the Lebanese guerrilla group since fighting began more than three weeks ago.

The deaths, in the cities of Acre and Maalot, raised to 26 the number of people killed by rocket fire from Lebanon during the current conflict.

More than 100 rockets were fired in the barrage, killing eight people and wounding dozens, police said.

The salvoes were another sign the guerrilla group was still a potent threat to Israel despite comments by Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert that Israel had destroyed its infrastructure.

"Israel will actively seek out and pursue Hezbollah, until these murderous attacks cease and until quiet is restored to northern Israel," said David Baker, an official in Mr Olmert's office.

1. Hmm

I wonder if Hizbullah has actually been pretty much intentionally missing a lot of the time. Perhaps they wanted to let Israel know what they could do without actually doing it so that Israel could gracefully agree to some sort of deal to end the war.

As time goes by however they are ratcheting up the attacks, firing more rockets, more accurately and thus causing more deaths.

Well there is every bit as much evidence for that as there is that the IDF is not intentionally targeting civilians.

I doubt it, if nothing else Hizbullah would love to hit some Israeli infrastructure

4. True, but their rockets are not THAT accurate...

They can definately hit a town if they want to, but have a look at the number of rockets that land in "open areas" near towns. Its quite amazing that a weapon that terrorised german troops during WWII somehow can't even hit a town today...
