Israel kills women at mosque siege

On Friday, about 200 Palestinian women marched towards the al-Nasir mosque in the town of Beit Hanoun, which Israeli forces surrounded on Thursday, in a attempt to rescue the men.

Israeli forces opened fire towards the women and two of them were killed. Six others were wounded.

Um Muhammad, a woman in her 40s, said after the rescue attempt: "We risked our lives to free our sons."

With Friday's shootings, at least 22 Palestinians have been killed since Israeli troops entered Beit Hanoun on Wednesday.

.....Israel needs to end the occupation. ANd the US needs to stop supporting state sponsored terrorism by Israel.

and don't know the rules about I/P. Gee, why does that strike me as slightly disengenuous? I don't agree with all the I/P rules, but having long participated there, I have come to appreciate that many of the rules make discussion of a very contentious topic possible. Don't like the rules? There are avenues to pursue. This isn't one of them.

perhaps you have a crystal ball and know what rules I have read and what rules I haven't read. Perhaps it's your assumption that since I have "over a thousand posts" I should know every rule about this website.

Whatever the reason, it seems you have a problem with the fact that a story critical of Israel was posted and you don't like the story or you're soo anal that it was posted in the "wrong forum"...

I have no problems with a story that's critical of Israel. I'm often critical of Israel myself. I do have problems with flamebait thread titles, and with people who don't bother to respect DU rules. If the Al-Jazeera story is correct, Israel should be strongly condemned.

Regrettably, the "Israel is golden and can do no wrong" mentality is an attitude that still deeply infests both Democratic and Republican parties alike. There will be some here that have their eyes open, but you're likely to encounter more, like this guy, who do not.

Despicable actions like this by the Israelis do nothing to help our standing in the Middle East, and much to hinder it.

13. This has absolutely nothing to do

with any kind of "Israel is golden" mentality. The powers that be at DU have constructed a forum in which to actually discuss I/P affairs because the subject is so contentious that without said structure, it all degrades into a truly ugly food fight. Those of us who actually post regularly in the forum, by and large, appreciate that salient fact. We want real discussions, not merely endless fucking flame wars. Do I sometimes feel constricted by the rules? Sure, but on balance, it's a good thing.

and really the I/P forum is more than just a dungeon. There are passionate, well informed posters there. I've learned a lot in the couple of years that I've been posting there. I apologize for assuming you knew the rules. (I'm kind of a rules nut. I've read 'em all, and because I respect this place, I try and abide by them)

Apparently there is a nice little forum were we can hide all posts critical about Israel from view. So people don't have to be offended by the sight of something critical of the country that can do no wrong. People here are willing to admit the things that the United States does is wrong....yet Israel is quite a similar country and its not comparable at all to the same people. I don't get it. I am willing to admit there are some horrible things my country does...and you better believe if they opened fired on a bunch of woman, that would top the list. I guess those woman were aiding the enemey and deserved it!

I assumed this was the 'general discussion.' Figures that that means you can generally post about anything. Next time if you are going to post something like this, be careful with how you word it. Because then you just get mud slinging going on.
