Haniyeh: IDF operation is massacre
On 3rd day of operation Autumn Clouds, Palestinian PM charges that operation in Gaza prompted by internal Israeli motives, to cover up army’s failure in Lebanon, pave way for Lieberman joining government. Haniyeh demands international intervention

"Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh accused Israel of turning the Gaza Strip into “an experiment field for non-conventional weapons that are being used for the first time.” Haniyeh made the comments Friday evening as the IDF was still going strong in its third day of operation Autumn Clouds in Gaza.

According to the Palestinian prime minister, the IDF’s use of non-conventional weapons is proved by the large number of casualties on the Palestinian side, which currently stands at over 35 killed and more than 160 wounded, 20 of whom were in serious to critical condition.

Speaking to the Palestinian news agency Ramatan, Haniyeh said the Israeli operation pointed first and foremost to the intra-Israeli arena and was meant to cover up the Israeli army’s “failure and defeat in Lebanon.”

He also charged that the extensive operation in Gaza constitutes an advance to Avigdor Lieberman, chairman of the Right wing Israel Our Home party, joining the government. “The third aspect is the fact that the operation comes in the frame of pressures on the Palestinian people and an attempt to influence the Palestinian political arena,” Haniyeh added."

1. Lieberman: For Gaza use the "Russian model in Chechnya".
Why a solution evades Arab-Israeli conflict

The appointment of Lieberman has alarmed Arabs, particularly the one million Palestinians living in Israel, Israelis and American Jewish groups. And for good reason.

A writer in Haaretz had described him as "more dangerous than his predecessors". They all have promoted and are promoting "racist politics", whether explicit, that is transfer of Palestinians, or in an implicit manner, meaning, Israel's right to the Arab territories "under the aegis of Israeli democracy".

Americans for Peace Now (APN) has expressed "deep concern" over the appointment of Lieberman who was described as "an ultra-hawkish populist" and whose party's platform calls "for the de facto expulsion of Arab citizens of Israel".

And what did Lieberman say after the first meeting of the security cabinet this week? According to Israel Radio, Lieberman recommended the army adopt in Gaza what the radio called the "Russian model in Chechnya".
