Israel orders killing of Hamas politicians
In a desperate attempt to stop the barrage of rockets fired by Hamas at Israeli villages, Ehud Olmert, Israel’s prime minister, has ordered his security chiefs to target the Islamic movement’s political leadership.

According to Israeli security sources, a decision to assassinate leading Hamas politicians was taken by Olmert and his defence minister, Amir Peretz. Early yesterday Israeli missiles struck Hamas targets in Gaza, including a charity run by the group.

.......

“The Gaza Strip is about to turn into the biggest terrorist compound on earth,” Yuval Diskin, the head of the Israeli internal security service, warned a parliamentary committee last week. “We have no choice but to consider a massive military operation there.”

Yesterday, deputy prime minister Avigdor Lieberman called for the assassination of Hamas and Islamic Jihad leaders. "They have to disappear, go to paradise, all of them," he said.

1. Now's the time for Palestinians to call off the terror attacks
Did they really think they could fire missiles at Israel and murder civilians with impunity?

When Israel kills Palestinian civilians it's a tragic error that they try to avoid. When Palestinians kill Israeli civilians it's their *goal*.

Anyone seriously interested in peace in the region should call on Hamas to immediately end the terror attacks, recognize agreements negotiated by the PA, and be prepared to negotiate a two-state solution with Israel. Anything less shows contempt for their own people.

3. Not kidding, simply stating the facts
Israel often puts its own forces at risk in order to avoid civilian casualties. They did this Jenin, fighting house to house instead of simply bombing. They did this in Lebanon, where they dropped leaflets and even used cell phones to warn Lebanese towns of impending attacks, even thought it also warned the Hezbollah terrorist thugs.

And when something goes wrong, and civilians die, you don't see Israelis dancing in the street, giving out candy, and proclaiming their own casualties in the incident to be glorious "martyrs." Instead they express regret and try to figure out what went wrong so it's not repeated.

That's the difference. Israelis try to avoid civilian casaulties. Terrorist thugs like Hamas and Hezbollah *target* civilians.
