PA security forces begin deploying in Gaza to prevent Qassam fire
Palestinian Authority security forces began deploying along the Gaza Strip's border with Israel on Sunday, in order to prevent Palestinian militants from firing Qassam rockets at Israel in violation of a newly implemented cease-fire.

ok this is a first.......though i dont know which part of gaza, it would represent the first time that hamas and fatah are working together as both would have to agree to such a deployment....and its seems that they're actually out there!

1. They better be able to curb the rocket attacks, or the ceasefire will be toast

2. I am not an optimist.
The ceasefire is bound for failure. In a different thread I wagered 2 weeks before shit is back to normal.

3. it should be clear now...
that is depends solely on the palestenains.....no israeli is in gaza...no helicopters, no drones.....its all up to them. Whether Egypt and the intl have opened up rafah i dont know.

they keep their missiles to themselves.....and "they get a life"...

5. Yep, it's pretty clear cut...
..though I'm sure that won't stop certain posters jumping in and translating that as me blaming Israel for everything ;) (not addressed at anyone in this thread, btw)

14. I am more optomistic about this than usual though
The PA Authority has sent 15K people to try and prevent rocket attacks

I sense moderates on both sides are becoming tired of this conflict

At least I hope so

15. yeah, that's a good sign...
And another good sign for this cease-fire was that Israel has agreed to it, though the report of the IDF killing militants in the West Bank today and the rocket fire from Gaza aren't good signs at all. Let's hope cooler and more rational heads prevail and the extremists don't derail this as well...

16. You are right, the extremists on both sides will try to derail it
Let's keep our fingers crossed

Maybe this ceasefire will bring civility regarding the whole discussion.

Peace

6. Hazahh!
Good on the PA! BTW, it is not the first time, but I am glad they are taking this seriously! Who knows, once this works, perhaps a unity government will form and real negotiations will take place!!!

that the PA has actually gone out into the field....even into N. Gaza which is where much of the kassams are launched.

Residents of gaza for the first time in a very very long time no longer hear the buzz (sounds like a lawn mower) of the small pilotless vehicles that fly over and transmit the video back to the IDF.....they can probably actually hear some birds as well.

residents of sederot havent heard the siren (usually 5x daily +) since this morning...they too are starting to walk outside....

10. It's about time
This is exactly what Abbas previously refused to do, leading to Israel having no choice but to defend itself against the missile attacks.

Let's see if this is for real or just for show. If it's for real, this would be a major step forward.
