Lieberman skeptical of Iran Syria talks

-WEST HAVEN — Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman Monday tamped down expectations that the Iraq Study Group will provide a template to halt the deteriorating situation in Iraq, as he remains skeptical of what is expected to be its key recommendation — direct talks with Iran and Syria....

But Lieberman doesn’t follow that logic.

"I am very skeptical of the value of having direct discussions with Iran and Syria about how to do better in Iraq," Lieberman said. "The notion that the road to peace or stability in Iraq is through Damascus or Tehran is puzzling to me." ...

Have you ever heard the saying
"Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer"? I quess not.
Did you forget the cold war years when Russian missles were pointed at us, and our's at them? BUT, NEVER then did we ever stop talking; Hell, the White House even had a direct phone line to the Kremlin; Remember that Joe?
Why are you skeptical about giving Damascus and Tehran a honest bonafide chance at creating peace and stability considering the chaotic civil war which Washington, D.C. has, with your previous support created?
