Powell says US concerned over settlement expansion
US Secretary of State Colin Powell expressed concern Thursday over Israel's decision to construct hundreds of new homes in settlements in the West Bank and also said that Washington was weighing whether to include the cost of Israel's security fence in loan guarantee deductions.

"The president continues to believe that the fence presents a problem. And to the extent that the fence intrudes on Palestinian land, that problem is exacerbated," Powell told reporters at the Foreign Press Center in Washington.

The government announcement that it planned to build 565 housing units in three West Bank settlements came a day after the Cabinet approved a portion of the security fence.

here comes AIPAC. Tomorrow is just another day.

Why pretend?

>>> and also said that Washington was weighing whether to include the cost of Israel's security fence

Dude, there is .5$ billion/year going into the settlements, why worry about the piddly-ass fence? Go for the gusto and get real. The fence is $120 million total. You gave the Palestinians 1/6th of that in support. Who buys this guy's racket?

2. What does AIPAC have to do with it?
Sharon fits Bush's master plan for the Middle East. Bush and Co don't want a Palestinian state and don't care about the Palestinians. But that isn't because of AIPAC - it's because of the fact that Sharon is helping Bush's foreign policy.

4. AIPAC supports Likud/Sharon. Bush supports Likud/Sharon.
PNAC supports Likud/Sharon/Bush. JINSA supports Likud/Sharon. JDL supports Likud/Sharon.

Gee, what do all these groups have in common?
(sarcasm off)

5. Okay, so they all support Likud/Sharon...
but why is it all supposedly AIPAC's fault?

AIPAC and JDL support Likud/Sharon because they are blindly pro-Israel.

PNAC supports Likud/Sharon because they fit in with their world vision.

7. Expressing concern
is what they usually do. Stronger than that might make Sharon very angry.

15. They can't do anything more...
The relationship between the two is one of interdependence. If Bush angers Sharon, Bush loses an ally in the Middle East who will back any of his wild PNAC plans. If Sharon angers Bush, Sharon loses billions of dollars in aid. Hence, the current situation.

18. IOW, Bush can't force
Sharon to do anything. He can't "put his foot down." So aren't we all wasting our time?

In an interesting article from Haaretz, "The Sharon Conception," posted by bemildred, I read that Likud is making preparations in case Sharon doesn't make it through the year!

14. Then why has Boucher NOT EVEN READ the Roadmap?
Edited on Thu Oct-02-03 08:03 PM by tinnypriv

You fucking dumbass, eh, Powell? :puke:

Your own spokesman doesn't think "natural growth" is in the Roadmap!!

Instead of expressing "concern", how about you say "STOP FUCKING DOING THIS YOU STUPID BASTARDS - DO YOU WANT A JEWISH STATE OR NOT?"

For fucks sake.

17. Hey, you don't know what you're talking about!
Colin Powell is a peacenik who is so much of a dove that he only lied in front of the UN to get us to war! He hates israel and he hates defensive violence!

Sarcasm ended.
