Jordanian, Egyptian physicians arrive to treat ailing Arafat

A joint team of Jordanian and Egyptian physicians arrived in Ramallah Wednesday evening to treat Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat for a mysterious virus amid reports that his health was rapidly deteriorating.

The doctors were summoned by the PA after Arafat continued on Wednesday to complain of acute pain in the abdomen, accompanied by high temperature, severe diarrhea, and vomiting.

Arafat has been ill for more than a week, and some of his aides are expressing serious concerns about his condition.

A senior PA official told The Jerusalem Post that despite his illness, Arafat received a Turkish delegation in his office on Wednesday. "I can't say that there is a real improvement in his condition," the official said. "Unfortunately, he continues to be very ill."

Another official, however, said there was a "slight improvement" in Arafat's health and he might be able to attend a meeting of the Palestinian Legislative Council in Ramallah on Thursday. The meeting has been called to approve the new cabinet of Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei.
PA officials denied a report in a British newspaper according to which Arafat suffered a mild heart attack last week.

2. Let's all remember that attitude...
Because I'm pretty sure it's the same folk who all wish death on Arafat will be whining about it if anyone dares to say similar things if Sharon is to ever become ill...

3. Arafat
Even if Arafat dies, the Palestinian soul will never die...;-)

5. What some people don't seem to realise...
Is while they get a buzz out of wishing him dead because as you point out they think with him gone the Palestinian soul will fizzle into nothing, they don't seem aware that his death would leave a pretty big void, that there'd probably be lots of chaos and unless there's someone charismatic enough to lead the Palestinians there to step in (which I doubt as Israel has a bad habit of assassinating or imprisoning moderates), things will crumple and there'll be a shit-load of fighting and more than likely the entire PA could end up not existing anymore. But then again, that's probably what some of these people who claim they want 'peace' would love...

6. Mirror, mirror on the wall
Comments that are such a mirror image of truth bring to mind the death wish of mythology.

Noting that the health of Arafat is said to be rapidly deterriorating, one doesn't have to wish very hard.

No, I don't wish anyone dead, but death seems to be knocking at his door.

"if anyone dares to say similar things if Sharon is to ever become ill..."

Worse attacks have been made on Sharon. He doesn't even need to be ill.

9. Not in this forum, they haven't...

I don't recall seeing anyone wish Sharon dead, though I have seen the sentiment expressed towards Uri Avnery. Got any links?
