Saudi to fund Gaza reconstruction
<snip>

"Saudi Arabia will pay for the reconstruction of all buildings demolished in Gaza by Israel during last week's deadly incursions in which more than 130 Palestinians were killed.

Saudi Health Minister Hamad Al-Manie said in comments published on Friday that King Abdullah had ordered the reconstruction as part of the kingdom's support for the Palestinian people and their cause.

"The king has ordered the reconstruction of Palestinian houses at the expense of the Saudi government," Al-Manie said during a press conference in Egypt on Thursday, quoted Arabic daily Al-Jazirah.

According to the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR), more than 70 buildings were either completely or partially destroyed by Israeli forces.

Saudi Arabia has been among the most vocal critics of Israel's incursions into the Gaza Strip, last week comparing the assault to Nazi war crimes."

9. If yr under the impression Saudi Arabia hasn't given aid before, yr very wrong...
Apart from contributing to the building of Gaza International Airport, which Israel later destroyed, Saudi Arabia has in the past contributed aid to the Palestinians. Here's just one example...

Saudi Arabia provides food aid for 50,000 Palestinians

Riyadh, 14 June 2006 - Days after the WFP warned that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are becoming destitute, Saudi Arabia has responded with a donation of US$2.6 million to purchase food for 50,000 of the worst affected families.

The Committee for the Relief of Palestinian People has donated the funds to WFP to purchase nearly 5,000 metric tons of food.

This will be enough to feed 300,000 non-refugee Palestinians, 50 percent of WFP beneficiaries in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt), for one month.

The 100-kilogram Saudi food basket will include five commodities: fortified wheat flour, pulses, fortified vegetable oil, sugar and iodised salt.

Generosity

"The Saudi people and government have been very generous this year, assisting WFP operations in the Horn of Africa, Pakistan and now in the occupied Palestinian territory as well," said WFP Executive Director James Morris.

4. Gaza is completely under Palestinian administration
The Palestinian Authority has had complete administrative control over Gaza since the withdrawal of Israeli settlers and military in 2005.

Palestinians are not required to get building permits from Israel on land inside Gaza.
