Jerusalem – Ma'an – The Israeli regional committee of planning and construction on Wednesday decided to expand the Israeli settlement of Har Homa (Jabal Abu Ghneim), near the West Bank city of Bethlehem.
A decision was also taken to extend the Pisgat Ze'ev settlement near Ramallah in the central West Bank.
Israeli army radio reported that Israeli authorities have decided to build 1,800 new residential units in the two settlements.
Originally built amid international outcry in the late 1990s, Har Homa is draped on a hillside overlooking the West Bank city of Bethlehem. It is built within the artificially-expanded municipal boundaries of Jerusalem.
