Egypt police seize explosives near Gaza border
EL-ARISH, Egypt (AFP) — Egyptian police have found two caches of explosives in the Sinai Peninsula that were probably destined for the Gaza Strip, a security official said on Saturday.

Police seized about 250 kilogrammes (550 pounds) of TNT near the town of Sheikh Zwayyed, the official said, asking not to be identified.

At Al-Qusayima in central Sinai, they found more than 200 unexploded rockets from the Arab-Israeli wars from which the smugglers had intended to extract the explosives, the official added.

"They were probably being prepared for smuggling into Gaza," he said.
