ISRAEL will continue to broaden its air and naval attack on the Gaza Strip over the weekend before an expected ground operation that has revived internal fears that Israel is exposing itself to a repeat of the disastrous 2006 war in Lebanon.

Hamas responded by declaring that all options, including "suicide operations" against Jewish targets inside Israel and the West Bank, were now open.

A senior Hamas spokesman, Ismail Radwan, told Hamas's Al-Aqsa television network that the movement's military wing should attack "Zionist interests everywhere in revenge for the assassination of senior Hamas figure Nizar Rayan".

Hamas later issued a statement calling for a "day of anger" against Jewish communities on the West Bank.

Just as Saddam Hussein and his spokespeople pounded their chests even as American forces entered Baghdad, so too will the truth become increasingly evident that Hamas is but sound and fury. Archaic rockets and aging AK-47's are no match for Israel's sophisticated military might.
The screen is about to be opened on the wizard and, ultimately, it will fall on Israel to further fabricate myths of how deadly this neutered group of Dead Enders really was.

Are you saying that opening the borders with Gaza would end the violence? If so, how or why? A sort of "final solution" to the conflict? Or would the people in Gaza, including all of the members of Hamas, stream across the border with flowers and candy for the Israelis? How exactly would the violence end if Israel allowed open borders with Gaza?
