PCHR: 894 of the 1,284 Palestinians killed in Gaza op were civilians

A Palestinian human rights group said a total of 1,284 Palestinians were killed and 4,336 wounded in Israel's 23-day war on Gaza's Hamas rulers.

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) said the data was collected by its field researchers and checked against information from hospitals and clinics.

The center says 894 of the dead were civilians, including 280 children and minors, ages 17 and under. In addition to the civilians, 167 members of the civil police were also killed.

The PCHR was a main source of information about dead and wounded during the war.

Indicates about 400 "non-civilian", one presumes those were actually trying to fight back in some form.

for dead women and children, iirc. But, they never did say what constituted a male "child", did they?

17. Who are the 500 adult males that PCHR is counting among civilians?

That seems to be where the discrepancy lies between the IDF's numbers and these.

The PCHR identifies approximately 900 of those killed as civilians.

Of that number, the group says that approximately 300 are children and 100 are women.

That leaves about 500 adult males among those they are identifying as civilians.

I believe that the IDF identifies about the same number of women and children casualties, but only includes a very small fraction of those 500 adult males in their civilian casualty count.
