Gaza recovery in doubt as Israel pressures Hamas
23 Jan 2009 18:32:25 GMT

By Adam Entous and Nidal al-Mughrabi

GAZA, Jan 23 (Reuters) - Israel on Friday dismissed
international calls for a full reopening of border
crossings with the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, leaving a
shaky ceasefire and post-war reconstruction in doubt.

While a U.N. official praised Israel's "goodwill" for
letting 120 truckloads per day of food and medicine
into Gaza, other diplomats decried restrictions on
steel and cement imports needed to make repairs after
Israel's 22-day offensive.

Israel also blocked the Western-backed Palestinian
Authority from sending cash to Gaza, despite
international warnings that President Mahmoud Abbas's
standing was at stake.

"They are afraid it will go to Hamas," a senior Western
diplomat said of the cash. Barring a swift change in
Israeli policy, the diplomat said the emergency response
and long-term reconstruction were "bound to fail".

1. Hamas has already proven
that they steal supplies and aid money.

And that they use whatever money there is to purchase weapons and other methods of terrorism.

Why would anyone think it would be different now?

Any money in the hands of Hamas will not go to the people, but to terrorism.

Hamas knows only two things: aid and terrorism.

2. The aid can be distributed without Hamas getting to it

Not all Palestinians, or the Gaza Strip, is under Hamas control.

The situation is not black and white as you describe it.

3. Israel won't stop
until they have killed all Palestinians. It's genocide they seek plain and simple. Maybe Obama can purge them (AIPAC) from our government. They have way to much push with our elected officials. I didn't vote all democrat to have them watch out for the jews.

How do they get away with thumbing their nose at UN sanctions? The US. This must stop. Israel must stop. Disarm. Punish them for ramming the aid ship. What if that had been an Iranian ship ramming an Israeli ship? Holy shit, WW3.

5. Israel did stop
after killing less than 1/10th of 1 percent of the population of Gaza.

Many tragic and unnecessary civilian deaths to be sure, but hardly anything approaching the ridiculous hyperbole of your post.

Clearly Israel it not trying to "kill all Palestinians" and is not seeking "genocide".

Interestingly, your post begins talking about Israel and then switches to talking about have you don't want democrats to "watch out for the jews". You want to "purge AIPAC" from our government? Very interesting phrasing.

What would the Iranian naval forces do if Israel tried to send an aid ship to Israel to assist the many impoverished residents of that country? Do you think Iran would allow it to dock?

Now that could start World War 3.
