Arab leaders back 'wanted' Bashir
What moral authority can Arab leaders wield on the Palestinian question when they so ignobly flunk the test with the butcher of Darfur Omar al-Bashir?

One needs to be consistent on human rights!

Arab leaders back 'wanted' Bashir

Arab leaders have concluded their annual summit by showing their support for Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir who is wanted for war crimes.

The Arab League said it rejected the International Criminal Court's decision to issue a warrant for his arrest.

President Bashir had earlier spoken at the summit in Qatar, and won strong support from his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad.

They were among 17 heads of state in Qatar, but some seats remained empty.

1. Because too many leaders suck and I wonder what the citizens would say
about that bastard, that support would not save the monsters life.

The Arab dictators are (have been) friends (friendly) with a variety of other worthy past and present butchers such as Bush, Blair, Bushama, Putin, Sharon, etc.. this puts Bashir in fine company. Shouldn't his "fight against Islamic terrorists" be supported by the crowd chasing him? They cannot wield 'moral authority' on the Palestine question primarily because most of them are too busy supporting the US/Israeli occupations of Iraq & Palestine to speak otherwise.

4. Each of these leaders have skeletons in the closet.
To single out al-Bashir, who should be tried by the ICC, is to set a dangerous precedent for follow-up action against other Arab leaders who have committed violations, in the Arab League's thinking. At that point, anyone who backed the ICC warrant may be extradited from the Arab world and the retaliation against something like that can range from popular revolt to suicide bomb attacks to outright assassination. The concerns of these men is different than the concerns of an American politician.
