Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom, responding Monday to a Hezbollah demand that a proposed prisoner swap would go forward only if Israel freed jailed terrorist Samir Kuntar, declared that Kuntar "is not on the list" of hundreds of prisoners Israel has agreed to release.

"Hezbollah knew very well what the the present government of Israel's osition was in connection with Samir Kuntar. There were no surprises here."
"Regarding Kuntar, who killed an Israeli family, from our standpoint this is a principle: We have not freed Palestinians, or nationals of other countries, with blood on their hands."
Shalom said it was time that Hezbollah realized that Israel has red lines and bottom-line demands of its own. "Anyone who hears the terms of the deal might well think that we've gone crazy, giving hundreds of Palestinians, as well as dozens of Lebanese, people from Syria, Morocco, Sudan and Libya, all in exchange for Elchanon Tennennbaum and the three abducted soldiers. But this is exactly what distinguishes us from all the others."
