The Whole List: Did Your Reps Sign The AIPAC Letter?
By M.J. Rosenberg - April 13, 2010, 5:22PM

AIPAC has done it again -- although getting the 76 Senators and 333 Representatives took a lot longer than it usually takes.

There is nothing exceptional in the letters. They are the usual blah blah about how Israel is really great, a democracy like you read about, and deserves every kind of support from the United States.

One key phrase appears in both the Senate and House letters. It is that, there must be "no space between the U.S. and Israel when it comes to security, none. No space."

In other words, President Obama should stop publicly differing with Israel on settlements or anything else. His job is to eliminate any "space" by supporting Netanyahu. Simple.

The whole idea is ridiculous. As Washington, Madison and Hamilton all warned us, the United States shares an identity of interest with no other country (and vice versa). AIPAC seeks the kind of "unnatural alliance" the founders feared.

1. The AJC Poll & Max Blumenthal on The New/Old Anti-Semitism
Here is the the latest American Jewish Committee poll on Jewish attitudes toward Barack Obama. He is less popular than he was but, Jews approve of his Middle East policy. (The AJC's neocon chief, David Harris, must be crestfallen. All that scaremongering for nothing).

It's no surprise Jews like Obama. He's liberal and smart. Who are they going to like? Mitch McConnell? John McCain? Sarah Palin? Or Mr. Smarm, Eric Cantor.

Check it out. The AJC runs a solid poll. Note, as Margaret Steinfels points out below, that the respondents do seem confused!

Also, take a look at Max Blumenthal's deconstruction of the latest poll on anti-Semitism.

Blumenthal says something that organizational Jews think must never be said. He suggests that such horrors as the Gaza war are not necessarily pretenses for anti-Semitism but may indeed cause it.

AIPAC, AJC, and the rest like to argue that Jew-hatred (and Israel-hatred) is permanent and has nothing at all to do with anything Jews or Israelis do. And yet, Yitzhak Rabin was, during his tenure, the most admired foreign leader in the world in the same European countries that are so angry at Israel now. His funeral was attended by more foreign leaders and caused more grief internationally than the death of any statesman since JFK.

Why was that? Are the same people who loved Israel then anti-Semitic now?

2. Thanks for that list.
I really don't like Michael Bennet, and this just made it easy.

3. My rep André Carson did not sign the letter.
André Carson is the only candidate for federal office that I will be volunteering time to help elect, as I did 2 years ago. The presumptive Democratic candidate for Senate is anti-LGBT and anti-choice. I won't be voting for Brad Ellsworth or helping him in any way.
