Here is the the latest American Jewish Committee poll on Jewish attitudes toward Barack Obama. He is less popular than he was but, Jews approve of his Middle East policy. (The AJC's neocon chief, David Harris, must be crestfallen. All that scaremongering for nothing).
It's no surprise Jews like Obama. He's liberal and smart. Who are they going to like? Mitch McConnell? John McCain? Sarah Palin? Or Mr. Smarm, Eric Cantor.
Check it out. The AJC runs a solid poll. Note, as Margaret Steinfels points out below, that the respondents do seem confused!
Also, take a look at Max Blumenthal's deconstruction of the latest poll on anti-Semitism.
Blumenthal says something that organizational Jews think must never be said. He suggests that such horrors as the Gaza war are not necessarily pretenses for anti-Semitism but may indeed cause it.
AIPAC, AJC, and the rest like to argue that Jew-hatred (and Israel-hatred) is permanent and has nothing at all to do with anything Jews or Israelis do. And yet, Yitzhak Rabin was, during his tenure, the most admired foreign leader in the world in the same European countries that are so angry at Israel now. His funeral was attended by more foreign leaders and caused more grief internationally than the death of any statesman since JFK.
Why was that? Are the same people who loved Israel then anti-Semitic now?
