Klaxons and Gorillaz Sound System cancel Israel shows, apparently due to Gaza flotilla raid

Concert producer 'troubled' by the groups' decision to cancel despite numerous attempts to convince them to still come.

The Klaxons and the Gorillaz Sound System have both canceled their performances in Israel this week, apparently due to Israel's deadly raid on the Gaza-bound humanitarian aid flotilla and the ensuing worldwide political fallout over the incident.

Both groups were supposed to arrive in Israel on Friday to headline the Pic.Nic. Festival to be held at the Expo Grounds in Tel Aviv.

Though the groups did not provide an official reason for canceling their trips, event producer Shuki Weiss said he believes it was because the tumultuous events in the region over the last few days.

1. Pity they didn't have the guts to say so.

Of course, they may just be nervous that their concerts would be the focus of a very public Palestinian revenge, as they have previously shown a liking for crowded markets, buses, and restaurants.

And I don't blame anybody for wanting to avoid another Palestinian massacre of Israeli citizens.

but i hope they declare it fully and openly.

3. "Crime" and "genocide" when Israel performs...

"justifiable freedom-fighting", "primitive" rocket "lobbing", incidental, peripheral Israeli civilian death as a result of a "minor altercation", bringing-in (rather than smuggling) "small arms", "scattered individuals", "pockets of resistance"etc. when the other side performs.

I can only recall the unfortunate mistake of the Israeli soldiers who wandered down the wrong street some years ago...the blood-lust of those who macheted them to death...the rasing of the blood-soaked arms of the 'victors' and the sheer joy of their faces at the killing....

I shall never forget that utter joy and pride of the perpetrators at this msssacre.

4. let's agree to call them both "crimes". the fact is, israel calls the raid justified "self defense".

and millions in the world disagree.
israel murdered innocent activists some days ago. it was not self defense, it was a crime.

now, israeli government and some people may not take it into account.
if so, enjoy your eternal war and isolation and good luck.

otherwise, make a move to a change. because it is high time.
