Blame Israel, says Red Cross as it ends food aid for West Bank
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is ending its emergency food programme in the West Bank, saying the economic collapse there is the direct result of Israeli military closures and that Israel must live up to its responsibility as the occupying power for the economic needs of the Palestinians.

The move comes as the Israeli media reported that François Bellon, the Red Cross representative, told senior Israeli generalsthat the Palestinian Authority was on the verge of an "explosion" that could lead to "the worst ever humanitarian crisis" in the occupied territories

2. Anti-Semitic? Old news.
Happened when they recognized the Red Crescent but not the Red Mogen David.

But, hey. I guess you thought they were pure. (Probably don't remember how tough it is to get donated money paid out to the intended recipients when the Red Cross is holding it. More than a few scandals about that, sweetie.)

But let's get to the current problem. Do you suppose Yasser will tap his Swiss bank accounts to feed his people? With THEIR money?

13. Please also remember
that the head of Palestine Red Crescent (which does ALL distribution of IRC aid in the PA and camps) is run by Yasser Arafat's brother.

You've gotta wonder what Swiss account numbers he has...

4. Unconditional support for the Israeli govt is policy of Rep & Dem parties

It is one of the few areas where there is no disagreement, both parties speak with one voice: Whatever Israel wants to do to the Palestinians, the US will pay for it and support it in every way, regardless of 4th Geneva, international law, or UN resolutions. (Israel is currently in violation of 69 of them)

The policy is not in the best interests of either ordinary Americans or ordinary Israelis.

20 odd % of Israeli households don't have enough food.

The US-funded sharon regime prefers to murder Palestinian children instead of feeding Israeli ones.

5. Holy s@#t....
Thanks Ductape, I had no idea that Israel had that number of people living under the poverty level.

Killing outsiders while ignoring the plight of your own people?

Sounds like Bush to me.

7. "20 odd % of Israeli households don't have enough food"?...
That must be the non-Jewish portion of Israel's population:

Israel
<http://www.sitesatlas.com/Maps/Factbook/is.html>

"Ethnic groups: Jewish 80.1% (Europe/America-born 32.1%, Israel-born 20.8%, Africa-born 14.6%, Asia-born 12.6%), non-Jewish 19.9% (mostly Arab) (1996 est.)

Religions: Jewish 80.1%, Muslim 14.6% (mostly Sunni Muslim), Christian 2.1%, other 3.2% (1996 est.)"

10. It's a good thing we send all those billions...
each year to arm Israel and pay for their war with palestine, otherwise there might be even more Israelis who would go hungry while their government spends itself into debt to pay for it's wars. (Hmmm... That sounds familier. There's another country I know that is doing that.)

It's a shame when any country has so many poor and hungry, particullary when said country has the resources to continuing arming itself against it's neighbors with the best and latest weaponry... Not to mention while continuing to fund programs to build and deploy weapons of mass distruction.

17. It's a good thing
we send so much money to Arafat each year. Otherwise his wife and child could not survive in their luxurious villa outside Paris while so many Palestinian children go hungry. It's a shame when there are so many poor and hungry, particullary when said authority does nothing to imrove the infrastructure, except of course build tunnels to smuggle in arms. Not to mention paying $25th per suicide bomber.
