Al-Qaida claims Turkey bombings
http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1068880710672

Al-Qaida has claimed responsibility for the twin synagogue bombings in Istanbul that killed 23, the London-based daily Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper reported.

Abdel Bari Atwan, the newspaper's editor, told the pan-Arab cable station Al-Jazeera that the claim was received by e-mail from the Abu Hafs al-Masri brigades, which the newspaper has identified in the past as part of Al-Qaida and has sent at least three similar claims to the paper in recent months.

"The Mujahedeen of Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades (as promised), after monitoring Mossad agents and confirming that five of the agents were present in two synagogues in central Istanbul, carried out their deadly blow," the statement said.

The group also issued a claim for the bombing of the UN headquarters in Baghdad in August, and US officials in Washington said at the time that they could not authenticate the claim and it remained unclear if the group exists or has any link to the al-Qaida terror network.

4. So everyone who once mentioned I/P and/or Jews...
is worthy of a thread whenever he or his organization does something?

5. Nevetheless, this can be safely discussed upstairs
Indeed, here's the link to the thread on LBN.

The attack in Istanbul yesterday was attack on all Jews, not Israel per se. I grant that Osama has difficulty telling the difference. He thinks that an attack on Jews is an attack on Zionism is an attack on Sharon is an attack on Isreal. Maybe he's been reading too much of the Jerusalem Post, since it seems to be of the same mind.

Nevertheless, the issue in the attack on synagogues in Istanbul is anti-Smeitism in a broader sense than is addressed on this board. The implications of such an attack go beyond I/P conflict.

It is precisely because Osama threatens Jews wherever he can find them, not just in Israel, that Mr. Darranar questions the necessity of posting the sotry in this forum.
