Egypt: Israel wants to 'dump' Gaza on us
Mubarak's government on Tuesday rejected an Israeli proposal that would leave Gaza entirely dependent on Egypt for goods and access.

The rejection came in response to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision on Sunday to let Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz to come up with a proposal for complete Israeli disengagement from the Gaza Strip.

"This kind of talk confirms what we have been saying for years, which is that there is official Israeli thought which aims to evade responsibility for the Gaza Strip and dump it on Egypt," a spokesperson for the foreign ministry in Cairo said.

Under the proposal, Israel would close all of its land crossings into Gaza, leaving the blockaded enclave completely dependent on Egypt for the movement of people and goods.

1. They certainly treated Gaza like crap when they owned it, even worse than Jordan and the west bank

8. Which simply proves the Egyptians are bastards
NOT that the Israelis are RIGHT to treat Gazans this way.

Gazans and Palestinians are NOT responsible for anything any OTHER Arab countries do.

4. Not even close...

"Um, wasn't it Egypt that dumped Gaza on Israel?"

Israel dumped Gaza on itself. No one forced them to invade and occupy it during the 1967 war, but they did. There is debate to this day as to whether the Army actually had orders to invade the Strip, or whether the government had explicitly told them not to do so, but it scarcely matters.

Either way they invaded it, and even insisted that they be allowed to hold onto it at Camp David. Not until the 1980s did they realise their folly, but whose fault is that? No one, least of all Egypt, has any moral obligation to insulate Israel from its own stupidity.

7. Not that I know of...
you may need to provide a source for that. I am aware that Eshkol etc negotiated with the Jordanians/Palestinians re the West Bank, but not the Gaza Strip.

In any event, it wouldnt make sense to give away the Gaza Strip but retain the Sinai.

10. actually they did not...here is a map of the proposal Israel suggested to Jordan - commonly known as
the Allon Plan of July 26, 1967 in which Israel would Annex the part of Gaza bordering Egypt and transfer to Jordanian control the part of the Gaza closest to the West Bank.
