.Israel refuses to pay medical bills for American-Jewish protester who lost eye
The Israeli government is refusing to pay the cost of medical care for an American-Jewish activist who lost an eye when Border Police officers fired a tear gas canister at her during a demonstration.

Emily Henochowicz, who studying at the Bezalel Academy of Art in Jerusalem and also holds Israeli citizenship, took part in a protest on May 31, shortly after Israel killed nine pro-Palestinian activists in a raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla.

According to the IDF, demonstrators began to throw stones at the Border Police, after which the army responded by firing tear gas canisters.

According to Henochowicz, one policeman shot a canister directly at her face, shattering her jaw and causing her to lose her left eye. A Haaretz reporter witnessed the incident.

Following her her treatment at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, Henochowicz's father, who had traveled from the U.S., was handed a bill for NIS 14,000. Under advice from his lawyer, Michael Sfard, he asked the Defense Ministry cover the expense, but officials refused.

1. I wonder how long it has been since I heard something good coming from the Israeli
government? Tear gas. The gas coverage from a can carries how many yards? It can be aimed at the ground. To throw a heavy can at a human beings face? How utterly and atrociously malevolent. Who the hell are these people? What happened to them? Did they mistake their own for Palestinians?

"Did they mistake their own for Palestinians?" If you meant Jew then you are mistaken in recent years Israel and its so called "supporters" have targeted Jews who openly protest or speak out on Israel's policies in Gaza, Jerusalem and the OPT just ask Noam Chomsky, Norman Finklestein, and Richard Goldstone for starters IMO she was targeted because she is a Jew and because she is a "nobody" unlike the others I mentioned was physically injured

3. Thanks for the set and setting - so there is a form of terrorism against fellow citizens.
This just makes me sick. What it means is that they can't backpedal on anything they do to Palestinians, for example, we didn't mean that there would be collateral damage, we honor Palesitinians, we don't play dirty with Palestinians. It won't work.

I don't know why these events bother me so much. I don't want Jews to be derided. I want them to be honorable, I don't wnat anyone to have to criticize them. They have the worlds' eyes on them and they do these despicalbe things. I rock back and forth in mental pain. Why can't they be decent about what they want to do? I ache, rather my heart aches.

I thank and congratulate every Israeli who has strives to break cooperation barriers with Palestinians whether it is through music, art, neighbor help, organizations, or lone voices like the three you mention and others who I have read.

I am very, very concerned.

5. And thank you.. I keep thinking, children don't care. They don't see the walls.

At what age do the children become seriously revengeful. The girl is idealistic. The soldier is probably young. I rant against the eye for an eye revenge and this time it was an arm used to take an eye. The women are not faring so well in Israel - protesters are not liked so much. The whole area is very kinesthetic. The words are barbed. No one is listening. The three main methods of communicating are not working and lifes gifts are not working. What is the lesson. The truth hurts. Sorry for my crying like writing.
