On eve of Cairo hudna talks, school bomb plot is foiled
Hamas, Fatah and 10 other Palestinian groups meet
today near Cairo for formal hudna (cease-fire)
talks mediated by Egyptian Intelligence Affairs
Minister Omar Suleiman. However, Israeli defense
sources said some Palestinian groups were trying
to step up terrorist activities ahead of any
cease-fire accord.

Yesterday, a combined effort by police, Shin Bet
and the army foiled a planned suicide
bombing at a Yokne'am school.

<snip>

Nonetheless, there appears to be a growing
consensus among Palestinian groups to give
Qureia a green light for a cease-fire so he can
try to achieve some political gains from the
Israelis. Palestinian sources said that in
addition to the cease-fire, Qureia will present
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon with a series of
other steps the PA will take, such as sealing
smuggling tunnels in Rafah, collecting illegal
weapons, and arresting elements who refuse to
observe the hudna.

Co-operative measures would be indicative of good-faith on the PA side. A simple limited Hudna will accomplish little in the way of a permanent settlement.

1. Children's lives are saved from murderers and not a peep at DU
Well, this has been up for several hours, so, let me be the first (and maybe the last) to say hurray for Shin Bet, the Israeli police and the IDF. May they continue to have success in saving lives, families and futures and hope from murderers who place no value on such things.

Heaven forbid someone compliments the IDF for protecting
innocent people.

It would be tempting to kick this, but would it really
matter??

3. This Is An Excellent Development, Ma'am
Balking such an attempt as this is good work, and there is no real reason to pretend, as some might, the whole thing is trumped up: there have been too many such outrages in the past. That sort of bilge is mere propagandist cant, when it is not active delusion.

It would also be extraordinarily helpful if the Palestine Authority under Mr. Quiera makes such undertakings as described above, and follows through on them. Such steps are the real key to peace in this situation, and if they are not taken, there are real grounds for questioning whether peace is the intention.

6. Does Murdoch own the New York Times?
Heard about the massive boycott of the NYT over anti-Israel bias?

That's just one example.

As you said, "Oh, yeah, the media is anti-Israel"!!
