Bush: Geneva Accord could be 'productive' to peace process
http://www.haaretzdaily.com/hasen/spages/368568.html

<snip>

"In his first direct public comments on the Geneva
Accord, U.S. President George W. Bush on Thursday
gave a guarded reaction to the unofficial peace
plan.

"I think it's productive as
long as they of the plan] adhere to the
principles I have just
outlined," the president told
reporters after meeting with
Jordanian King Abdullah. "And
that is we must fight off
terror, that there must be
security, and there must be
the emergence of a Palestinian state that is
democratic and free."

<snip>

"Also Thursday, former President Bill Clinton
released a statement in support of the Geneva
Accord and a separate peace initiative by
former Shin Bet chief Ami Ayalon and
Palestinian intellectual Sari Nusseibeh."

1. OMG--What will Sharon and his pals say now?
We saw what they said about Carter....is Bush next?

More importantly: Is this is a fluke, or is Bush's endless whoring for Sharon finally beginning to wear even HIM (or his handlers) out?

We can only hope.

4. Interesting...
The State Department says that the Geneva Accord isn't contradicting the Road Map, which is the direct opposite of what the Israeli govt claims. Of course, if the Israeli govt thought the road map was so important, then I've got to wonder why they violated it at will and also did things that weren't in the spirit of the road map. It was also interesting to notice that Hamas supporters have been protesting against the Geneva Accord, and it seems to me that those guys and Israeli right-wing extremists also opposed to the Geneva Accord are really soul-siblings who are more interested in war and killing than they are in working towards peace and the lives of people who live in Israel and the Occupied Territories. I've come to the conclusion that anyone who opposes the Geneva Accord isn't interested in peace or a two-state solution...

Violet...

5. Maybe, just maybe, Mr. Sharon has finally gone too far...
We can only hope that he doesn't get away with it---AGAIN.

6. I wonder very seriously and
equally as sadly how all of you would have characterized an anti- Geneva Accord statement if it came from Bush.

Now, you are happy with Bush...that's not progressive, is it? :eyes:

7. Indeed, as you note, your position quite far to the right of Mr. Bush's
Even Bush cannot support the Fence of Expansionism.

At least, not in public.
