Cairo ceasefire talks hinge on Hamas
http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1070512329377

Palestinians debated cease-fire proposals in Cairo on Friday, but Hamas, the main Islamic terror group, reportedly was resisting a comprehensive truce and holding out instead for a limited plan to halt attacks only inside the 'Green Line'.

A senior Islamic Jihad member - on the other hand - said that his group might agree to a one year cease fire, to begin with.

Palestinian sources reported Friday that concessions may be offered Hamas and Islamic Jihad, according to which they would not make a formal announcement of a ceasefire, even if one is decided upon.

The Egyptians are hoping to conclude ceasefire talks by Saturday, enabling parties to discuss internal organizational reforms in the Palestinian Authority, including the enlistment of the Hamas, the Islamic Jihad and other smaller factions into the Authority, or the creation of a united Palestinian leadership, which would include all factions

1. Shoval is unreasonable!
"But Zalman Shoval, an adviser to Sharon, stressed that a cease-fire must be total and be followed by the dismantling of militant groups as required by the "road map," which would establish a Palestinian state by 2005."

Dismantle militant groups...just for peace...HA!

2. Some officials in the PA
such as the Foreign Minister, are optomistic that there will be a comprehensive cease-fire including all the militant organizations (Hamas is again bucking this). The dismantleing of the groups is a stickier matter. The PA may be satisfied with a cease-fire, but the dismantling of the groups is a high priority for Israel and is on the Road Map. How will they get around that? Perhaps they will dissolve the groups and incorporate the leaders into the PA mechanism. Very risky.

3. Yes, but
no dismantling...no state in 2005.

Dissolving the groups is pretty far-fetched; I honestly don't know how to stop the hatred of the adults now.

I wish the children would discontinue their school curriculums; then, there would definitely be hope for the future!
