"GOC Major General Moshe Kaplinsky over the weekend ordered the disbanding of a Military Police company, some of whose soldiers were suspected of bribing Palestinians at the Qalandiyah crossing between Jerusalem and Ramallah.
According to suspicions, soldiers confiscated various items belonging to Palestinians passing through the crossing, including compact disc players, cigarette cartons, soft drinks and food products.
The company's soldiers were interrogated and a number of them admitted to the allegations against them.
According to sources in the Israel Defense Forces Central Command, there were instances where the company's soldiers treated Palestinians passing through the crossing in a violent manner. There were also cases where soldiers unnecessarily delayed people passing through the crossing, shouted at them and harassed them."
