Gaza workers protest against security restrictions
Workers from the Gaza Strip will not enter Israel Tuesday, as part of their protest against new security restrictions and the death of a fellow worker Monday, Israel Radio reported.

About 1,500 angry Palestinians shut down the Erez workers' crossing in north Gaza early Tuesday.

Security at the Erez crossing, the main entryway to Israel for the 19,000 workers with permits, has been greatly heightened since a Palestinian suicide bomber blew herself up there January 14, killing four Israelis.

Now, workers must wait in long, painfully slow lines for hours, hold their permits over their heads with one hand and lift up their shirts with the other to show they are not wearing bomb vests.

More unruly behavior. Palestinians wail poverty then prevent their own from working. I suspect the crossing will reopen as hunger sets in.
